Friday, February 12, 2016: GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Tampa, FL at the University of South Florida Sun Dome. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM EST.
Good news... maybe. Judge Napolitano just said that the only way anything gets to the Senate floor is if McConnell puts it there. It’s entirely his decision. So he could set any nomination aside for as long as he wants.
If that’s true, and Judge Napolitano is usually right, we don’t need to count on, and hope for, the whole Senate to do the right thing. Best thing is for McConnell to do the right thing, sit on any nomination for a year, and then put it in front of the Senate.
Scalia and Maryanne were both product of Queens.NY. Both were appointed to federal bench by Reagan. She served with Alito but was great friends with Scalio. Notice DT has said nothing yet. Friends or family don’t butt in initial announcements. But wait. His statement will be heads above the others
According to the Washington Times, McConnell has said no new SCOTUS judge will be considered until the new president is elected.
Let’s see if he can hold that notion for more than 10 minutes.

I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the Scalia family after the passing of Justice Scalia. Justice Scalia was a remarkable person and a brilliant Supreme Court Justice, one of the best of all time. His career was defined by his reverence for the Constitution and his legacy of protecting Americans’ most cherished freedoms. He was a Justice who did not believe in legislating from the bench and he is a person whom I held in the highest regard and will always greatly respect his intelligence and conviction to uphold the Constitution of our country. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.

Agree. And his statement was pure class. Tonight’s debate will be an opportunity for ALL the candidates to unite behind the Senate doing NOTHING on a nomination until after the election.
If Scalia and Maryanne Trump were friends, and both appointed by Reagan, then Trump probably has more “cred” than any of the candidates. He probably knows Scalia well through his sister. I expect he’s not the type to brag about that, though, although “others” (and you know who I am referring to...) will not hesitate to do so.

I hope, pray, the only statements made about Scalia at the debate is to send condolences to his family. If Trump is asked about anything political concerning Scalias passing, he should decline an answer. The man hasn’t been dead for even 24 hours! Leave the politics for later.

Obama is going to offer what will seem to many as a compromise but we will know better.
