Branstad Machine Still After Cruz in South Carolina
Conservative Review ^ | 2/10/16 | CR Wire

Posted on 02/10/2016 11:26:34 AM PST by TBBT

America's Future Fund, a political action committee that opposed Sen. Ted Cruz in Iowa, has purchased $1.5 million in negative advertising against Cruz that will run on television in the weeks leading up to the Feb. 20th South Carolina primary.

The ad, "Weak," attempts to discredit Cruz's national security bona fides in a state with a heavy military and veteran population.

America's Future Fund is run by GOP establishment operative Nick Ryan. As CR's Rob Eno wrote in "Why The Establishment Fears Cruz More Than Trump":

"Ryan is a longstanding force in Iowa politics, allied with the moderate Governor Branstad. On his website, Ryan describes himself as having investments in renewable energy--i.e. ethanol--in Iowa. Ted Cruz is very much against ethanol mandates."

Don’t care if it is a PAC backing Cruz or against him or anyone else, these PAC are crap. Candidates running their own ads should be fair game but PAC are dirty.

The ethanol bullies will follow Cruz all over the country, trying to knock him out of the race. Trump says he will leave the ethanol hogs at the federal trough alone, so they would be happy with that. Welfare recipients don’t want to lose their favored status and will fight for it..

Not sure why this Ryan character and Governor Branstad are so against Cruz, and trying to protect their ethanol money.

President Bernie will take away most cars, and have people riding bikes while eating government issued tofu cheese. They need to start greasing Bernie's palms, and moving their investments to bean sprouts, and tie-dyed clothing.

Okay, so they want mnandated ethanol but are going to run ads about Cruz’ positions on military matters. That is quite the issues oriented PAC.

Golly. Sure would have been nice if conservatives had bothered to help us dismantle and destroy the Branstad machine two years ago.

I grew up in Iowa. The state has been turned into a welfare state. Nearly every single farmer (really corporations) gets some form of farm subsidy. They get paid to grow certain crops, they get paid not to grow, they get paid if it rains, they get paid if it doesn’t rain. And by golly if they do manage to get a crop the prices are subsidized.

Of course they love ethanol. Its like manna from heaven on its green.

The only way to prove you are for a strong American defense is to flush an infinite amount of money down the toilet to build the F-35.

Or so says the conventional wisdom...

To my mind, the person who really is for a strong defense would cancel the F-35 immediately and spend half that money buying weapons systems that actually work.

Cruz does not want to spend $20 a gallon to buy biofuels for the Navy and the Air Force when $4 a gallon Jet-A works better and produces more power per gallon.

Therefore Ted Cruz is weak on military matters, don’tcha know...

I said it at the time, Branstad never endorsed Trump and so his employees, allies, political machine which I felt could have compensated for Trumps lacking ground game let Cruz win.

Ted’s win was a defeat for Branstad. So he is butthurt, look in the Mirror Governor, you have yourself to blame.

Now, you could enforce the law that says Rounding percentages on delegate apportionment. That would be rational since its law and would take one delegate from Cruz and give it to Trump

Or you could weigh in on BOR suggestion that Cruz’s dishonest actions cost him first place.

Iowa was a total Abortion, a funny thing to call the Caucus in a state where few like abortions.
