Here’s Why Republicans Are Mocking Obama’s Final Budget Proposal
The Daily Signal ^ | February 09, 2016 | Philip Wegmann

President Obama’s final budget proposal, which increases government spending by $4.15 trillion, got a chilly reception Tuesday in Congress. Many Republicans already are dismissing the spending plan outright.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., snarkily tweeted a survey asking what the mountain pictured on the cover of Obama’s budget proposal symbolized. Options: debt, regulations, taxes, or all of the above.

A record-breaking budget package, the Obama plan would boost government spending by 4.9 percent while increasing spending by $2.5 trillion over the next decade. It also would impose $3.4 trillion in tax increases leveled mostly on wealthy Americans.

By 2018, Obama proposes to end sequestration mandates–the automatic, across-the-board spending cuts established by the Budget Control Act of 2011.

His final act of destruction - kill the value of the US Dollar.

What budget? We’re operating on continuing resolutions as we have been since his coronation.

"[Obama's budget] does everything exactly the opposite we teach kids in Economics 101 if you want to grow your economy," Rep. David Brat, R-Va., told The Daily Signal.

Ergo: Obama does not want to grow the economy.

“Sure, the eunuchs are talking big now but they’ll give him everything he wants in the end.”

It was “Speaker” Ryan’s week to play “conservative”.

When the people discover that "Wealthy Americans" are really the middle class making $70K per year in a 60 hour a week job which isn't the result of other people's taxes, it will be too late.

The old bait & Switch.

Creating a special super punitive tax bracket to target wealthy Americans is just dumb. Facts don't support it's efficacy. The natural result will be the middle class picking up the tab in such cases.

Behind closed doors, it's widely accepted that any tax increases are always targeted at the middle class. Words may paint a different story, but reality is numbers.

Besides...........Wasn't the AMT supposed to fix the problem?

The Establishment Republicans have been right there for Obama since his first election.

Establishment Republicans are more evil than Obama because they know right from wrong, and sold the country for 30 pieces of silver.

Assuming the Republicans win in November and retain control of Congress then I predict the budget will grow at a far greater rate than 4.9%.

i thought they agreed on a budget months ago.

The President has to present his budget to Congress. It's due to them by the 1st Monday of February every year for the upcoming fiscal year (begins October 1, for the feds). This budget is for the future, not this year.

Beginning about 18-24 months prior to the fiscal year in question, all the federal agencies put their budget requests together, and they are sent to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). From there, these proposals are combined into a report that goes to the President. Then, based on national priorities and administrative policies, the President makes decisions on these proposals. This is called the President's Budget. This is then sent back to Congress for approval/denial. So, it's not the current budget that passed the House and Senate, and was signed by the President, it's a future budget proposal.

Exactly. The Republicans are really good at talking tough initially and then folding when the pressure is on. Let’s see if Ryan is still talking tough when its time to vote.

Think you may be right. HOWEVER IMHO the GOP will lose the Senate - All 34 Class 3 Senators are up for election in 2016; Class 3 currently consists of 10 Democrats and 24 Republicans.

I think the GOP will lose seats but will still have a 51 or 52 seat majority.
