I’d snicker, but it would be a sad snicker because I’ve listened to all of these fools at some time or another and been quite disgusted at all the philosophical slamming from pillar to post. It’s like the Baby has not been asked to His birthday party.
And anyhow, the Lord’s manner is generally to completely surprise men, just to show them that they need to put better heads on, and He can furnish those better heads.
A story with an unlikely hero is just the sort of story the Lord would design and author. The challenge for us is to worship, not the people who are on the stage, but the Author who is beyond it. We’re getting some Old Testament style treatment (as for the Hebrew exiles) because New Testament has eluded most of our grasps today.
