Milhouse has always been a lying leftist schmuck.

Milbank’s not the only one. Check out Bret Stephens’ increasingly shrill columns in the Wall Street Journal. Last week he accused Cruz of “dog whistle” anti-Semitism, and this week somehow managed to turn Brooklyn’s own red Bernie Sanders into a coded Jew hater.
The odd part is, this article does precisely the same thing Stephens and Milbank do - mixing up real anti-Semitism, guilt by association, and saying the obvious (that Jews in America are a powerful lobby) to find joohaters hidden under every bed.

This is sadly another example of the partisan arrogance that the liberal political correctness police use with their position and the megaphone of the media to project an agenda against conservatism.

Milhouse has always been a lying leftist schmuck.

Indeed. And Ted Cruz is the most pro-Israel candidate in the race.

WTF cares about what Dana Milquetoast has to say? It's like Eugene Robinson ... you stop reading (or listening) as soon as you hear their name.

...however more interesting (at least in judging Senator Cruz's attitude toward Jews) is the traditional seven-candle Jewish menorah.

I haven't been able to make heads or tails out of something here? All Jewish Chanukah menorahs are for 8 candles, not 7. ( 8 nights of Chanukah) No telling what the 7 candle stick holder shown in Cruz's represents? A mid-Eastern holder. Iranian perhaps.

You’re up on Jewish issues, what country, if any in particular, is that 7 candle stick holder from or is it simply a candle stick holder to light a room?

That candle holder is a menorah, and it commemorates the rededication of the Temple after it was recaptured by the Maccabees & followers from the tyrant Antiochus Epiphanes.

It is central to Jewish worship & is lit during Hannukah.

(I’m not Jewish, did I get it right?)

“All Jewish Chanukah menorahs are for 8 candles, not 7”

A “Chanukah menorah” (actually called a “chanukiah”) has 9 branches. 1 for each of the 8 days of Chanukah and the shamash.

A menorah has 7 branches. The 7 branch menorah is a symbol of the Jewish people in Israel, perhaps our oldest symbol.

Cruz is giving a not-so-subtle signal of his support for Israel.

The menorah is almost the Jewish equivalence of the cross.

There are two types of Menorahs
The seven branch Menorah is the everyday Menorah
The nine (Eight plus the Shamush branch) is used only at
Chanukkah. Although most people are familiar with the
Chanukkah Menorah - the seven branch Menorah came first
