...however more interesting (at least in judging Senator Cruz's attitude toward Jews) is the traditional seven-candle Jewish menorah. I haven't been able to make heads or tails out of something here? All Jewish Chanukah menorahs are for 8 candles, not 7. ( 8 nights of Chanukah) No telling what the 7 candle stick holder shown in Cruz's represents? A mid-Eastern holder. Iranian perhaps.

A “Chanukah menorah” (actually called a “chanukiah”) has 9 branches. 1 for each of the 8 days of Chanukah and the shamash.
A menorah has 7 branches. The 7 branch menorah is a symbol of the Jewish people in Israel, perhaps our oldest symbol.
Cruz is giving a not-so-subtle signal of his support for Israel.
