Last time I was in the DC area, you could feel and SEE the obvious excess of Federal Government excess.
The greater D.C. area is now overall the wealthiest area in America.

There is never a recession in DC. Their perception is that all is well and that everyone has a job.
The biggest job growth is in federal gooberment and the VA counties surrounding DC are among the richest in the country.
But not Prince Georges. It’s a mystery why.
I was there last March and you could literally feel the money bubbling up through cracks in the sidewalks.
I drove from L’Enfant Plaza all the way out to Bethesda on surface streets and did not see ONE boarded-up building or closed business.
Only on I-70 coming home, when I got to around Hagerstown, did I see some closed businesses and realize that I was back in the real world.
All the boys wear 1000 dolla suits and the girls have 500 dolla handbags, shoes, and dresses.
