What ever they are *not* doing...is more than the cowardly *men* who are fleeing in droves [photo above]. At least they are staying...fighting...not so much. That alone is impressive.
With men (women?) it is impossible. With God all things are possible.
The original was about the assumed position of success of the rich man, which Jesus counted for nothing. The same goes for any other thing that might be counted an earthly advantage.
If they are up to it, I say literally more power (from God) to them.
This is the kind of thing we should be looking at and praying about. Earlier someone was obsessing over “demeaning” Saudi customs observed at a Saudi Starbucks that pretty much reflected the normal treatment of women in that culture. Raging against that machine on an earthly level is not going to achieve anything. Embracing Christ, the only sure fire victory over Satan, and then moving forward, will achieve much.
were they drafted?
Almost exactly the antithesis of these “problem refugees.” Wouldn’t it be a hoot if the children and women they left behind managed to band together against the menace and, with the blessing of God (the real God, who has mercy on the weak) managed to rout it and even, as Eric has suggested, embraced Christ somehow? I’d think this would be a very good (and urgent) field for Christian missionaries. Without those mean men to have them under their thumb, they could be quite a fertile field for hearing about the gospel and gaining Christ who would power them to victories.
The devil, which is their power, is a coward.
I don’t think we are on the same paghe here ...
It is common knowledge that when trapped on Mount Sinjar and confronted with the inevitable fact that they would be captured and sold into slavery ; many Yazidi women and girls chose to jump to their deaths off the mountain cliffs to escape their fate.
With all due respect to your opinion, maybe we can agree that these middle eastern tribal wars have been going on for thousands of years.
The Yazidi people have a long, long religious tradition and are fiercely independent. They are monotheists and have that going for them. I don’t see conversion to Christianity as a cure-all for their plight, as it is, in their homeland.
All I can see is more beheadings for your Christian missionaries after being captured by the jihadists. The plan is unrealistic IMO.
Just like General "Black" Jack Pershing.
