Interviews conducted as voters left the polls in the 2012 New Hampshire Republican primary show that Mitt Romney – who won the overall vote by a double-digit margin – was the winner among born-again evangelical Christians as well as among non-evangelical voters. Romney’s advantage among evangelicals was smaller than it was in the electorate overall, but his performance among evangelicals in New Hampshire was better than it was among evangelicals in the Iowa GOP caucuses.
-snip-
In the exit polls, 22% of New Hampshire voters describe themselves as born-again or evangelical Christians.

It is a pity such numbers for Jimmy Carter aren’t available from 1976. I was at a private Baptist college at the time and the students and faculty were rabid for Jimmy, who was going to exorcise dishonesty from politics and governance.
I was quite the heathen at the time and thought they were abject fools in their belief in Jimmy Carter.
I was wrong about God; right about Carter.
It just goes to show then any religion, or any candidate, will do among a certain streak of the credulous who look to men for answers.
These numbers all reflect the attempts of a GOP_E election.
None are the case in this election.
You have either, ‘the bought and paid for’s’, or, ‘the guy using his own money’.
The evangelicals have been courted for votes, since a time i remember in the 1980’s. If they are such a bastion, and are and have been on their knees (supposedly, since i respect that as a bit of scriptural closet privacy), why have they NOT been able to appease the heavens enough to turn this country around, from that time forward??
It is not a sign of weakness of their prayers. It is not the sign of a weakness of God. Our nation has been going in a Godless direction for a long time.
With prayer as my understanding is, and it isn’t much.
The answer can be No, Yes, or Not Yet.
Also there examples in the Bible where God allowed a nation to go the wrong direction, through trials and tribulations it reminded Christians they need to change their ways.
Romans 1:18-31New American Standard Bible (NASB)
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful;
Romans 8:28(NASB)
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
