Intermarriage and assimilation blur racial and ethnic lines, but the Census Bureau is determined to keep them sharp.
The U.S. Bureau of the Census has projected that America will have a "non-white" majority by 2044. A new and quite stunning article in the Winter 2016 issue of The American Prospect (a left-of-center journal) debunks that claim and undermines the widespread faith that the Census Bureau knows what it is doing.
The article, by the sociologist Richard Alba, is entitled "The Likely Persistence of a White Majority: How Census Bureau statistics have misled thinking about the American future." Its two key arguments are simple.
First, the Census Bureau counts all children of mixed parentage as minority, regardless of how they identify themselves:
In the Census Bureau's projections, children with one Hispanic, Asian, or black parent are counted as minority (that is, as Hispanic or nonwhite). Under alternative ways of counting, the potential range of variation in the size of the white population is quite large. . . . If we were to go to the opposite extreme from the bureau's official projections and . . . classify anyone with some white ancestry as white, the data show that whites would make up three-quarters of the population at mid-century, when the Census publicly claims that whites will be in the minority.....

Sounds like the ol' 'one drop' rule to me...
Anyone with eyes can see the “white majority” IS disappearing, especially if they see maternity wards and playgrounds. Our overlords try to obscure this fact to prevent a reaction, but it is easy for anyone to see.
The problem is that those with “one drop” of preferred blood will get the college seats, jobs, and promotions of those without them.
Toe heads are very rare in most major metropoliss
I thought the left said people are what they want to identify as.
Obama is half white yet he identifies as black.
Why dont we all get to?
Neocon establishment types will quickly become “nativists” as soon as their opinionating/think tank type “jobs” are threatened by 3rd world immigration.
As someone who has spent a lot of time over the past two years researching my family genealogy, all I can say is that the Census Bureau is and always has been a joke. Almost as worthless as the USCIS, USICE and USCBP.
Sure, but they are becoming increasingly rare in many suburbs as well. I believe NJ closely matches the nation overall in demographics, and the under-20 demographic is probably 90% non-white.
Have children...demography is destiny.
There is only one race. The human race.
Government’s obsession with distinctions without difference is racist.
Depends on where you live. Flyover country is overwhelmingly White. My voting district is 97% homogeneous.
No doubt pockets exist all over the country, but they are overwhelmingly outnumbered by major metro areas. Upstate NY has many white areas, but is dominated politically by NYC and Buffalo. Many of those white rural areas are de-populating as well; in northwest NJ (very white/conservative) Hispanics are a rapidly-growing population.
We thank God that our church is experiencing His blessing of children in a baby boom we haven’t seen in decades. Several families have four or five children and a few have six. It is a joy to see these families work and worship together. So there is hope that the U.S. may survive the War on Children that has been waged the past 50 years by the Leftist enemies of this country.
N GA mountains is mighty whitey. :-)
Census Bureau/Bookmarked
PA is a prime example. Though PA is largely rural and Conservative it is ruled by corrupt Filthadelphia which is a prime destination for immigrants, illegals and "refugees".
soetoro only won 8 counties out of 60 some but they were the right ones.
That and the government unions.
Uh oh! Thass raciss!/sarc
