Connecticut town 45 minutes away from Newtown considers proposal that would ARM teachers

A Connecticut town located just 45 minutes by car from Newtown, the site of the third-deadliest school shooting in US history, is considering arming its school teachers.

Elected officials in Kent, Connecticut voted 2-1 Wednesday to present information about a program called 'FASTER Saves Lives' to the town's Board of Education.

'FASTER' is an acronym that stands for Faculty/Administrator Safety Training and Emergency Response. The Kent Center School is the town of Kent's only school. Elected officials in the town are proposing to arm teachers

...

Only one of three officials who voted on Wednesday is against the program.

'I didn't feel that our small elementary school is ready for, or needs armed people,' First Selectman Bruce Adams told WSFB.

Connecticut governor Dannel Malloy spoke out against the program on Thursday, objecting to a stipulation of the program that would allow anonymous volunteers to carry guns at school.

'If any board of education would approve this, I'd be shocked, frightened and disappointed,' Malloy told the Associated Press.

'It makes no sense. And no school system in the state of Connecticut should be allowed to do this.'

'The idea that we're going to have a volunteer receive 26 hours of training or teachers and principals receive 26 hours of training, that's just unacceptable,' Malloy said.

'It puts children in more danger, not less.'

So Dannel, how did unarmed teachers work out at Newtown? Great if you want to use dead kids to advance your agenda, but a Dem would never do that. /s

Good for them. There are some red areas of CT. We’re just outnumbered by libs.

The fact that anyone is even talking about this...blows me away... especially after the news this week from Newtown ...and the perpetual victims proposal. I HATE THESE PEOPLE! I never open carry. Makes me want to drive to Newtown and walk around open carrying.

Can’t fix stupid. These people, instead of moving forward, seem to be moving BACKWARDS. Dummies.

"The Newtown community in particular requires increased sensitivity, love, and compassion from local business owners, as there are many in our community who continue to suffer from PTSD," the letter states. "We strongly recommend that all business owners in Newtown join our movement to create a safer and less intimidating environment for our children and families by banning all guns in their establishments."

The Newtown Action Alliance keeps saying they are only around to remember the children, but always come out for gun-control measures. They use the dead bodies of the victims to advance their agenda. I have no sympathy for that town.

But the program would be totally opaque. No one would know staff had access to guns.

Except for anyone who read this story.

CT towns tend to be VERY protective of the rights of their local school boards to manage their schools. It’ll be interesting to see how far Malloy and the state wide officeholders are willing to push back against this.

Yeah, remember how they crapped their depends over arming pilots after 9-11? By their reckoning we should now have thousands dead from that particular policy.

“So Dannel, how did unarmed teachers work out at Newtown? Great if you want to use dead kids to advance your agenda, but a Dem would never do that. /s.”

The Dems would really have a fit the way the Israeli teachers do it. I had a picture of an Israeli teacher taking her class on a field trip along with a rifle slung over her shoulder, with the caption of how Israeli teachers protect their students.

‘I didn’t feel that our small elementary school is ready for, or needs armed people,’

...until there’s an incident, in which case we’ll be hiding and praying to a God we didn’t believe in a few minutes ago that the armed people show up quickly.

Typical Union mentality, probably wants them paid to get the training.

I’m sorry for their losses ...but every time [our governor, Dick Bloommers, Murphy included] stand on the graves of kids to advance their heinous agenda I want to scream.

I gotta get outta this state.

Many of the small towns in CT don’t have their own Police depts., instead they rely on CSP.

Normally they pay to have a “Resident State Trooper(s)” exclusively in that town for for specific times, but outside of that the nearest trooper in the Troop’s coverage areas responds, could be three towns away.

Kent Board Rejects Proposal to Arm Teachers

Looks as if this was just a minor kerfuffle. Of course, Malloy had to make [as usual] stupid statement. *HE* knows better how to keep your children safe.

School board shut down any rational discussion.

Nothing to see here.

God help us! Carry on!
