Hillary Clinton accepted $675,000 for Wall Street speeches: ‘That's what they offered’

Hillary Clinton has a simple explanation for why she accepted $675,000 from Goldman Sachs to give three speeches after she was secretary of state.

“That’s what they offered,” Clinton said during CNN’s town hall event in Derry, N.H., on Wednesday. “You know, every secretary of state that I know has done that.”

The Democratic frontrunner was asked by moderator Anderson Cooper if taking such a large payment from a Wall Street bank in 2013 was an “error in judgment” considering she knew she’d be running for president in 2016.

“Well, I didn’t know,” Clinton insisted. “To be honest, I wasn’t — I wasn’t committed to running. I didn’t know whether I would or not.”

“You didn’t think you were going to run for president again?” Cooper asked.

“I didn’t,” she replied. “You know, when I was secretary of state, several times I said, ‘You know, I think I’m done.’

I wish she'd think it again.

As much as I can't stand her, that was a good answer.

Like saying to someone "I didn't know you did that", or "Why didn't you tell me?"

Obvious answer: "You didn't ask"....

That was hilarious. I couldn’t believe she said that.

I think we are running against Bernie.

An American success story.
From “dead broke” in 2001 to vast riches today.

Even her daughter has a $10 million “starter home” in Manhattan.

I agree. She is toast but many don’t realize it yet.

Lying on top of lies and Plausible deniability.

It's what she knows.

And, separately, for the computer experts among us, is there any way to clean up the odd symbols that sometimes appear instead of quote marks on FR? I can deal with it, but it is a little irksome. (TIA)

I’m sure they did offer that. But, was the speech itself worth that amount? In which case it was a legitimate, above-board offer and a reasonable deal between two parties.

Or, was the speech itself worth less (e.g. someone else could have delivered as much for 1/10th the amount). In this case the offer was made with expectations of something in return. And if she accepted it knowing the speech wasn’t worth the amount then she either stole money from them or knowingly used the speech to launder money.

Only a moron would pay $675,000 to hear a screeching banshee screech, “I can’t recall or I can’t remember why I’m going to ‘fight’ for you!” No wonder the country is going broke.

I am so tired of her not getting called on her crap. They don't "offer" - Hillary's management team negotiates the fees, and conditions.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/behind-the-scenes-of-hillary-clintons-300000-speech-at-ucla/

A team at the Harry Walker Agency, a speaker's bureau handling Clinton's appearance, requested snacks in the green room ("diet ginger ale, crudité, hummus, and sliced fruit," they wrote in an email obtained by the Washington Post.)

They described her preferred onstage refreshments (water, both hot and room temperature, and lemon wedges). They specified the type of chair Clinton should be sitting in during part of her appearance, and the type of pillows to be placed on that chair (long and rectangular, with an additional pillow backstage for added support, if needed.) They even requested that a medal being presented to Clinton be given in a box instead of being draped around her neck.

And of course, there was the matter of Clinton's $300,000 speaking fee. When officials asked for a price reduction on behalf of the public university, Clinton's representatives didn't budge, saying $300,000 was already the "special university rate."

When someone offers that much, and when Hillary accepts it, both know more is being purchased than a couple of one hour speeches.

Does anybody really believe she didn’t know if she would run for president again??? She’s believed it was her destiny to become president someday. She took speaking fees not knowing she would run for president ??? Really???

Are there that many low information types who believe this horse blank???

The ONLY people that can stop her are the Bernie people. It is clear she will never be indicted by the Obama regime. The media is 100% in the tank for her. The fix is in with the shifting of the electoral college and vote fraud. The Bernie fools are all motivated enough, unemployed enough, and want their free stuff so bad they’ll do anything to get Bernie on the ticket. Their numbers are great enough to counter Mrs. Bill Clinton’s fraud.

Are there enough Burney folks to keep him going when they get to Super Tuesday? I can see Iowa and NH (+6 Obama states) but wonder about down south.

She probably meant to say That's ALL they offered.

If Bernie can hang in there long enough, yes.

If the DOJ refuses to indict her, the FBI will more than likely leak all the goodies on her. Then who knows what would transpire.
