Ted Cruz, fighter pilot(Up in the air, in the midst of battle, true character is revealed)

There's a truism amongst fighter pilots: you can't fake it at 500 knots and enemy fire all around. One's real character emerges.

That's what's happening as the presidential race has begun. Real results – not polls – are now being felt, and Donald Trump, who beat his chest as the inevitable victor in the polls, is revealing his true character – as is Ted Cruz, who surprisingly bested him in the first live battle, the Iowa caucuses.

As the caucuses commenced, Cruz was accused of maliciously reporting that candidate Ben Carson was dropping out of the race. That would help Cruz, it was theorized, since Carson voters presumably might go to Cruz.

What actually happened, it turns out, is that Carson revealed he was going home after Iowa and not on to New Hampshire, where the next vote will be held and where most expected him to go. CNN reported this with hints that it was strange. Why wouldn't he be going to New Hampshire? Was he dropping out?

Unnamed (so far) elements of Cruz's campaign then, as the caucuses were being conducted and votes being tallied, tweeted basically the same. When Carson, after the election, found this out, he cried foul. Cruz, who all evidence so far indicates had no personal knowledge of his campaign's tactic, nevertheless immediately apologized. Carson eventually blamed CNN, although he was not happy with anyone involved. Details of the matter are still to be revealed.

But Trump, a smart man and certainly aware of these basics – and after a gracious acknowledgement of Cruz's victory – the next day reversed and charged that Cruz had lied to get votes. He is now demanding a new Iowa election.

Americans are waking up to see someone who says what he believes and acts the same.

Well, that’s sure an interesting point of view.

Cruz is a lying, underhanded scumbag... so we should all support him!

I hope, as many here on FR also do, that they will end the “starting point”.

Personally, I think it should be a ‘Round Robin’.. each election, different states get to start the game.

THAT would be more of a balance.

Cruz is not a fighter pilot. Not enough money or prestige in that kind of thing.

"Basically the same" is an outright lie. CNN reported that it was unusual. The Cruz campaign flat out said "Carson is dropping out make sure you tell everyone and have them vote for Cruz instead."

Carson made a mistake and wants to blame everyone but himself. This is why I don’t support candidate running for president before any other office. You don’t start rookies in the super bowl.

You Trumpsters constantly attack Ted's electability but when that happens in the Iowa caucus which is supposed to win now the ridiculous field of wannabes, it's foul play.

It's obvious Carson, nice but deluded, takes too many breaks. So does sleep-at-home Trump.

Funny how all the other candidates try to find things Cruz has done and call him names rather than to go against the substance of what he stands for.

A real deal conservative is frightening to not just Democrats but to the other GOP RINOs.

CNN says they didn’t characterize it that way. In fact they reported that Carson was going to Washington to the National Prayer Breakfast which is where he first got his political bump. It was clear Carson wasn’t dropping out.

Cruz distorted the CNN story into a lie and Rubio jumped on board. They should both be disqualified in Iowa.

At first, I liked Cruz. Now I am starting to see the Devil in disguise. Seriously. Look closely.

“Funny how all the other candidates try to find things Cruz has done and call him names rather than to go against the substance of what he stands for.”

If he’s a liar and cheater (which, by the way, he is), it doesn’t matter what he “stands for” on paper, because I have no reason to believe a word of it.

” Look closely”

I do and see a man of character and a man who has well established conservative positions.

The other candidates running are afraid of the appeal his message has to Americans, and are doing character assassination ala Hillary as they cannot go against the substance of what he stands for.

Watch Rubio really go even more negative as he is desperate for a job since he gave up his Senate position and has nowhere to run.

I'd rather support a REAL conservative like Cruz, than a liberal Democrat in conservative’s clothing like Trump.

Who would you rather see appointing Supreme Court nominees?

Does Trump see the words of the Constitution as absolute and set in stone, or does he see the Constitution as a living breathing document, he can interpret the way he wants to get his way. Scalia and Thomas are getting up there in age, and not getting younger. I would hate to see a Republican president who got elected being a pretender choosing their replacements to the Supreme Court..
