An unorthodox plan for the 2016 election
self-vanity | Feb 4, 2016 | Bobalu - Vanity

Posted on 02/04/2016 12:14:53 AM PST by Bobalu

This election must be won by a candidate that is not hell-bent on flooding the country with illegals or the republic dies....it's that simple.

That leaves us with Trump and Cruz.... Trump I'm very sure of on immigration, Cruz a little less so but he's far better than any of the rest.

IMO Trump can pull votes from across the spectrum and I give him a very good chance of being elected.

Cruz has a dedicated following who would follow him through hell and back... but IMO the following is too small to be confident of a general election win.

Combine the two men and you can be pretty much guaranteed of a win in the general.

Trump would have to be at the top of the ticket because otherwise the ticket would no longer pull votes from across the spectrum as Cruz is held in low-esteem by most democrats and independents.... like I said his following is fierce but narrow.

The MSM, democrats and GOPee are all doing their best to pit Trump and Cruz against each other so they are both destroyed and the enmity between them will keep them from joining forces.

Both Trump and Cruz have a burning desire to gain the presidency... There is a way for both to become president with a single election...

Trump agrees to serve only one term. I think he only desires one term anyway... time enough to put all his plans into motion and once that is done he will desire to be back as head of his business empire.

So, Trump and Cruz agree that Trump will run only once, for a single term as president. Trump agrees to resign that office before the term is up. This places Cruz into the presidency and makes him the incumbent and well set for election to a full term in 2020. If this is kept quiet and not disclosed to the public Trump's ability to draw from across the spectrum will not suffer. It still works well enough IMO even if they publicly declare the plan.

This is highly unorthodox of course, but none of this is constitutionally prohibited.

We are at a critical juncture, it is time for bold actions and out-of-the-box thinking. This election must be won! These two champions must come together or the republic is finished.

Cruz will burn a billion dollars of contributions to win this, Trump could do that ten times more, but he won’t.

Would be nice to have an honourable president.

I don't think Trump will pick Cruz for VP after making those birther claims.

Also, if I were advising Trump, I would urge him to pick a VP from a crucial swing state. Cruz does not represent a swing state.

I'm with you except for the above. All the polling and data I have seen leads to precisely the opposite conclusion. It is Cruz who can pull from across the spectrum, and Trump with a dedicated but limited following nd who would fail on a general election.

In fact, Trump loses to Cruz almost everywhere in a head-to-head poll. Same with Hillary. Cruz is definitely the more electable candidate.

You could be right... if you are then Trump would be the guy that needed to take the VP slot. It’d be tough for an old alpha male! If he’s serious and has the best interest of the county in mind then he might do it.... they would have a lot of Trump $$$ to burn! :-)

Sounds good to me.... IF in fact it is Cruz with the better ability to draw from a wide spectrum... I think you are wrong though...IMO Trump pulls in Reagan demos and such....

Cruz is a FRAUD and INELIGIBLE to be VEEP or president!

Ted is NOT against amnesty and only just started to claim that he is, in the fall and he not only doesn't mean it, he is OWNED by big money donors who want it and more H-1B people brought in.

I don't know WHAT you're reading, but Cruz can't draw blacks, has far FEWER Hispanics on his side than Trump has, doesn't attract the young, the blue collar workers, the disaffected Dems, the secular folks, nor even many main stream Protestants.

And FYI...the polls with various different GOP candidates V. Hillary ( who may NOT even be the Dem nominee! )are garbage.

In a debate between Hillary and Cruz, Cruz would lose and lose badly!

Ted isn’t able to do that; it’s a delusion/fantasy told to you by a big Cruz supporter and Trump hater.

Every one of them is a fraud.

Anyone who becomes famous is replaced by a lizard alien that is made to look human.

Thousands (maybe millions) of people go missing every year.

We're all just waiting to be put on our lizard overlords' dinner table.

Either that or they're just a bunch of politicians telling lies like politicians always do. No one more or less worse than the other.

I think we need to be wise in how we respond to all the. Hit pieces our liberal media whores place so strategically. There are 5 months before the GOP convention and it is too soon to tell how it will fall out.

“IMO Trump can pull votes from across the spectrum and I give him a very good chance of being elected.”

He will get the black vote.

“Cruz has a dedicated following who would follow him through hell and back... but IMO the following is too small to be confident of a general election win.”

The GOP is never going to let him have the nomination and he’s too far to the right to win in the general election if by a miracle he would get the nomination.

My once ardent support of Trump has been fading fast. I still believe he is the one who is actually capable of doing the things that are necessary to restore the Republic. I less and less believe that he will do those things. We need a hybrid of Washington and Napoleon. Trump appeared possibly to be that man. The more he campaigns the more he appears to be a less consistent Napoleon. I have been willing to support the Man On Horseback because I believe the nation went over the cliff in 2008 and the parachute roman candled in 2012 i.e. the Republic is gone. Cruz has been flailing of late and I am losing confidence in him, too. Any time between 1988 and 2004 he would have been the only rational choice for conservatives but his very qualities as Constitutionalist make it highly unlikely he can or would take the necessary csteps if he were to become president.

Trump needs to stay on topic or he’s going to loose what momentum he has, this is not about who said what and when.

The MSM, democrats and GOPee are all doing their best to pit Trump and Cruz against each other so they are both destroyed and the enmity between them will keep them from joining forces.

And they have been successful at it also. Both camps ran full bore into their trap. It needs to stop. At the present time, the Democrat Party is the number one threat to the Republic.

Trump has the "Jerry Springer" and "WWF" vote locked up.

If that's enough to get elected President, then this country deserves to die.

This country has already died or is dying when obola was elected twice!
Can it be worse?
Trump has intelligent supporters as well as supporters who have changed their views from witnessing the destruction by the leftists.... No one other than clinton and Sanders can do more damages than obola!

Don’t fall for the theory that a conservative (Cruz) can’t win the general.

It is the moderates who have a track record of not being able to.

Other than the “ardent support,” I agree with your post. My view of Trump progressed from clown to possible game-changer to petulant egotist. Cruz hits all the conservative notes, but somehow never seems to be on key. Focusing on the negative always leads to ruin. It is the leftist worldview and conservatives have embraced it to their detriment.

Reagan didn’t win because he was conservative; he won because he promoted a positive vision of a great and moral country. Trump’s line about Making America Great Again resonates, but his actions and words are a stark contrast to that ideal. America wasn’t great because we were brash and rude, but because we held to ideals that transcended petty politics.

The vitriol that has infected this forum from both camps proves Reagan’s eleventh commandment. Our country lies in tatters, and these nattering nabobs would rather spend their effort continuing the destruction of civility. I have spent my life defending and supporting a country I no longer recognize. There are two generations who have never heard a positive vision of America and it appears they never will.

Promoting a conservative vision isn’t about infighting, but about promoting the same moral ideals that made this country great. Candidates should embody those ideals as much as possible, but most importantly they need to inspire others to embrace them. Having a perfect man in office accomplishes nothing if he can’t engage citizens in a positive manner. Without disciples, even Christ would have faded into obscurity.
