A St. Johns County School District teacher is under investigation for allegedly engaging in "inappropriate communication" with multiple students, according to district spokeswoman Christina Langston.
Dionne Younce, a physical education teacher at Allen D. Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of an investigation by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
Langston said an investigation by the School District's Human Resources Department began late last week.
Cmdr. Chuck Mulligan, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, said youth resource deputies on Wednesday received information and allegations regarding "inappropriate conversations going on between a teacher and a student."
He said several interviews were being conducted and that the case was turned over to the Special Victims Unit on Thursday to determine whether there was any criminal wrongdoing.
Langston said inappropriate communications can take many forms but it was unclear as of Thursday afternoon what the nature of the communications were or how they were shared.
She said she could not confirm the student's ages or genders.
Younce received a hand-delivered letter from the School District on Wednesday informing her of her suspension "due to alleged misconduct in office."

That school is just up the road from me.
This is not the first time in this county that this has happened.
St Augustine high school also had the same problem a few months ago ,. but she was having sex with the kid.
The vice principle who was female was told of this and chose to cover for the female child molesting teacher.
Teacher gone and the vice principle was moved to another school, the middle school called Sebastian which is right next door.
It is disgusting what is going on in the schools and it seems most are female teachers are not held to the same standard as a male judge. Female teachers do this and then think and know they get away with it .
As for this being FL, then it is happening around the country.
My son knows a kid who goes to the school and told my son that the teacher was a big flirt ton the older boys there. Seems the school boys knew of this and yet I guarantee that some teachers saw what was going on.
It just seems like all the cute ones are in Florida, though.

Probably not a heck of a lot.
This sort of thing has most certainly been going on for a long time now. It’s just thanks to social media and evolving societal mores that are applied more evenly regardless of the genders involved, what was once dealt with quietly now gets MUCH more play in the press.

What happened is that young females are not the same as a couple of decades ago.
Here I guarantee that the St Augustine record and the Sheriff dept , plus the school board will go all out to cover as much as they can , just like they did a few months ago when another teacher was having sex with another boy and once the vice principle found out the female vice principle chose not to inform anyone.
It was only because a male teacher reported it to the vice principle and saw she ignored his advice and thus it went public. Vice principle is not at the middle school
