A Democrat Explains Why She’s Voting For Donald Trump
huffpost.com ^ | January 30

She once voted for Hillary Clinton, but now she's supporting Donald Trump.

Rebecca Thoeni says the real estate mogul and presidential candidate is speaking truths no other politician -- of either party -- is offering right now. And it is his uncharacteristic bluster that made her bolt the Democrats in favor of the Grand Old Party.

"He's down to earth and seems to have a lot of common sense, which is lacking. I just like him. I think he really stirred the people up," said Thoeni, who huddled with approximately 800 other people at an outdoor Trump rally on Saturday, a chilly winter day in January. The venue was none other than a hangar at the Dubuque airport, the classiest of locations, if only because it provided the best view of Trump's arrival in a Boeing 757 jet emblazoned with his name.

"I like how he wants to take back our country. That's the main thing; it's our country. And the respect. We're getting screwed over," she added.

Good.

Saw a guy on a video at a Trump rally who said he had previously voted for Obama.

We don’t need to get what McCain and Romney got at the polls. Need someone that can get the independent, black, Hispanic, Democrats, big tent.

If Dems win this election and get Scamnesty, we’ll never have a shot at another national win and many states will be lost as well.

Can you imagine Reagan being elected governor of California today?

Oddly enough, I can imagine Ronald Reagan being elected gov of California today;he was elected after 2 terms of Jerry Brown’s father, Pat Brown, and Jerry is definitely a chip off the old block!

"He seems like such a young man. He seems my age," she said of the 69-year-old businessman. "He’s got a full head of hair."

This in a nutshell is part of the problem in the U.S. Someone who votes for a candidate because that person has a full head of hair get's equal voting rights as someone who actually cares and researches a candidates position. I can at least respect a lefty whacko for voting for Bernie or whoever if they have actually researched and agree with the candidates position. I can't respect the above statement. She says of Bernie Sanders he's too old, yet he's only 5 years older than Trump...

People vote for candidates for strange reasons. Some because they think the candidate is good looking. I’ve heard that from people who support Rubio. Go figure!

Re: “A Democrat Explains Why She's Voting For Donald Trump”

Because she thinks he's a Democrat?

Or they won’t vote for some candidate based on some equally mundane thing. I heard from a few who couldn’t stand Sarah Palin’s voice. When I would gently asked what they thought of her position on the issues...I would get a blank stare.

Re: “Oddly enough, I can imagine Ronald Reagan being elected gov of California today...”

That is just a dream, I’m afraid.

In 1984, when Reagan won a landslide reelection, 68% of Hispanic Americans voted AGAINST him!

It really didn’t matter in 1984, because Hispanics were just a couple percentage points of the electorate.

It will matter in 2016, when Hispanics will be 11% of the electorate.

And we can thank Reagan for starting the immigration political catastrophe with the Reagan Amnesty in 1986.

True. Even if they were never allowed to become citizens and vote, just being counted in the census would shift a number of Congressional seats to the blue states they are concentrated in, meaning the Democrats take over the House.

And he doesn’t have a full head of hair. That’s why he has the ridiculous hair do.
