Buzz builds for Rubio in Iowa
The Hill ^ | January 30th, 2016 | By Jonathan Easley

Buzz is growing on the ground in Iowa around Marco Rubio, who many political watchers believe is set for a stronger-than-expected showing at Monday’s caucuses.

In interviews with The Hill, Iowa Republicans and independent analysts in the state say Rubio is primed to break free from the second tier of contenders and finally emerge as the candidate to save the establishment from Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, who are battling for the lead in Iowa.

“He easily has the greatest upside,” said Doug Gross, who served as Iowa finance chairman for the campaigns of George W. Bush and Mitt Romney.

“Mainstream Republicans are not comfortable with Trump or Cruz, and the more I hear from them, the more they say they’ve decided on Rubio. He has the greatest potential and it’s driven by pragmatism, a desire to win, and angst with the two front-runners.”

To be sure, that assumes more strength for Rubio than is currently reflected in the polls.

According to the RealClearPolitics average, the race for Iowa is a two-man contest with Trump the front-runner at 31 percent, and Cruz hanging on at 25 percent. Rubio is a distant third place at 14 percent.

However, Iowa is known for producing late-surging candidates.

To get rid of Cruz, I hope Iowa gives Rubio the 2nd place. We can take care of Rubio later. I hope it is

Trump - 1st

Rubio - 2nd

Carson - 3rd

Paul - 4th

Cruz - 5th

I am hoping my prediction happens.

I still think Cruz, Rubio, and Trump will be the top three—in what order, and with what percentages, is hard to say. I do see Rubio as being on the rise.

Rubio will not go away quietly. Media and such keep him around. Terrible.

So the expectations game. If Rubio comes in third, he is the formidable challenger who beat the formiddable Bush and formiddable others in the bottom tier. I like Rubio. But he should try again in 8 years like Santorum and Huckabee, probably with the same results.

The only “buzz” that is building for Rubio is from the media and the GOPe.

The Ministry Of Propaganda is trying to create some fictional movement to Rubio.
The Cheap Labor Express still expects the RNC to deliver an amnesty candidate.

Rubio has been a disappointment to me. He has what it takes to get elected but not what it takes to govern. His record and his policy statements are too far to the left and he doesn’t seem to bring any fresh new perspective to policy. His policy statements are reflexive. I don’t get the impression that he thinks things thru before opening his mouth.

I have seen The Hill, Erick Erickson, POLITICO, etc. all writing up this supposed Rubio surge, but not a single shred of evidence in any of their stories to back up their assertions.

It's all intangible crap like "there's a sense", and "trust us, he's totally surging guys."

Maybe the DMR poll will back it up, if not, this is all complete B.S.

This country will not survive with an amnesty pimp in charge. Rubio cannot be permitted to win.

The media sets whatever ‘expectations’ it wants so it can say ‘whomever’ it wants did great.
And whomever it doesn’t want did badly.

What a joke on the people.

The Tea Party traitor Rubio will be crushed like a cockroach in the south, even if, by some miracle, he finishes second in the Iowa caucus.
