I've heard that kids are modifying e-cigs to vaporize cannabis oil or other drugs. I wonder if it was that sort of mod, and how that might have led to an explosion.

Not likely. They don't mod them for drugs. Mods aren't required for cannabis oil. They mod them for longer battery charges and for greater "smoke" output.

I see a lot of younger guys in the Navy doing this. They're also making their own "home-brew" oils to vape.
