[VIDEO]Jerry Falwell Jr. Speaks out on Trump Endorsement
CNN News ^ | 1/28/2015 | CNN VIdeo

This is my commentary based on video. Salient points begin at 2:30 Jerry Falwell, Jr. just did the most amazing endorsement of Trump. A few points he made, but watch video for actual: 1. His dad got a lot of flack for endorsing a divorced Hollywood actor, Ronald Reagan. 2. He discussed how Liberty U. was failing financially years ago and they hired the best lawyers, accountants, etc....not based on their faith, but based on their expertise. They turned Liberty U. around and he said the US is very much like Liberty U., and Trump has a track record of turning things around, etc. 3. He said as a Christian parent, you would go to the best doctor with a sick child—we have a sick country, he feels Trump has the expertise to fix it.

Yeah, right. Name me one Senator or governor who is more trusted by conservatives to stand up for their values than Ted Cruz.

I am puzzled as to how anyone thinks this wall will be built, clearly, the president of this nation does not have the power to appropriate money to acheive this. How does something like this get started? What is a president going to do towards this task to get it going?

This is an excellent question. It may deserve it’s own thread. I sure am not an expert, and I would hope others who know more would chime in. True constructive suggestions please.

I believe that the process needs to begin at the GOP convention—the GOP platform must be established that we will build a wall and secure the border—for real this time...

The President does have a bully pulpit and can move the party and country in that direction if armed with a secure the border plank and a mandate through the election.

If we have a Republican President, Senate, and House, there is no reason on God’s green earth that we cannot get a wall built. We have voted for this and appropriated money in the past yet it is not been completed. Why...Hmmm

I believe that is because we have not had a President with the will to do it. The majority of the Dems don’t want the border secured because the immigrants are viewed as future Dem voters. The GOPe doesn’t want the wall because it views immigrants as cheap labor—both parties get beaucoup campaign money from lobbyists to keep the status quo.

We fund wars, global junkets, treadmills for shrimp, tunnels for turtles, answers as to why lesbians are ugly, and so on... I don’t think money is the problem, I think it is that we have to have a LEADER with the will to make the changes...No more status quo...A leader who is not beholding to the Cheap Labor Express and lobbyists.

Those are my thoughts.

Do your research.
I would prefer Jeff Sessions.

LOL wait, you are lecturing the President of Liberty University, son of Jerry Falwell that he needs to spend more time in the Word...Wow...pretty arrogant, but OK...Answer me this?

1. Are you a pastor?
2. Did you even watch the video?

I exercise careful discernment with respect to whose counsel I listen to. I would not sit under Falwell's teaching nor anyone else who is in agreement with him regarding Trump.

In answer to your questions:

1. No, I'm not a pastor. Although I attended school of ministry (accreditation: ORU), I was unable to graduate when I had to take over as caregiver for a terminally ill family member. I do have access to former classmates who were able to graduate and who have gone into ministry, and we do discuss these things. My BFF is a minister of the Gospel, so the Word of God is never far from our minds, our hearts or our lips.

2. I watched the video from beginning to end. His reasoning is worldly. God's is not. In fact, He warns us against leaning on our understanding. I choose His wisdom over Falwell's.

You are entitled to your opinion, we all have our own understanding of the Bible—that is why there are so many denominations...You can judge Jerry Falwell Junior if you wish, I am not going to do that as the Bible says

Matthew 7:1-3
7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

You sound exactly like the type of preacher and Christian that caused me to quit attending any organized church services, and begin to worship God my own way.

I'm happier, more spiritually aware, and more grateful now that I read, interpret, and act on God's Word for myself.

In the past 10 years, every time I decide to venture in search of a church family, I run into sanctimonious, know-it-all pricks.

You see yourself as a great deliverer of truth, a man of supreme Godliness, but you turn more people off Christianity than you can imagine.

That’s a great example. And Jeff Sessions has been allied with Ted Cruz, backing Ted Cruz and supporting Ted Cruz on issue after issue. They are part of the small part of the conservative wing of the Senate along with Mike Lee.

He has also supported Trump’s positions...one of his staffers is working for Trump I believe and helped formulate Trump position papers.

At the end of day, I truly hope we can all come together and support one of these 2 candidates...future of country depends on it.

FRegards!

Need to rename Trumpbot lemmings to Jumpers, considering the tendency at jumping to conclusions.

My question, was toward ANY evangelical seemingly being bestowed by their Dad or claiming inheritance to divine connection, regardless of who their Dad was.

I made no comparison or reference to Liberty University, Jumper. Used car business comparison was more toward the “lucrative business” of evangelical divine connectivity i.e. Jim Bakker, Swaggert etc., etc., etc.

Cruz does not take up any claim to a halo divinely bestowed by his Dad. He says he was influenced by his Dad being Born Again.

As to Crass, there is little more crass, or unGodly than fake Bible Beaters or fake Bible Beater sheeple attempting an aire of “Holier that Thou”.

Does anyone have any insight into how someone inherits an evangelical connection to God?

I can see the first generation, like Jerry Falwell, having a revelation and special blessing to have an evangelical calling. My unanswered question is how does one, like Jerry Falwell, will divine inspiration to one’s offspring?

This process seems more like inheriting a business, like a used car lot, than a religious movement. Maybe its like the Royal family handing down the crown.

Falwell did not take on a “holier than thou aire,” but then you really did not watch the video or you would have known that....

I didn’t jump to a conclusion, you provided a solid bridge. Your intent was to discredit Jerry Falwell thereby devaluing his endorsement because you don’t like Trump. And you made no mention of Bakker or Swaggert et. al, which you could and should have done.

Then you end your post by talking about fake Bible-Beaters and sheeple following fake Bible Beaters

—Hmm I have never ever heard born-again Christians use the term “Bible Beaters” seriously, never—Not sure whether or not you are implying Falwell, me or Swaggert —but I would hate to be a “Jumper.”

Shame on you—resorting to insults and name calling at the poster when you don’t have a solid argument—Oh and I may be jumping to another conclusion, but I think you just don’t like the fact that Trump received a valuable endorsement and what I posted, so you resorted to insulting and multiple name calling. Very Low-brow and Lame...

Post all you want for others to see your Low-Browed Lameness, but I will not reply to likes of you. This thread was about Trump getting an endorsement from the head of leading Christian University...Should have ignored you in first place. Go away!

Again, if you had gone to a wee bit of effort to read before jumping onto you lemming conclusion, you would have seen I did not refer to Mr. Falwell Jr. acting ‘holier than thou aire,’, it was YOU my FRiend.

Mr. Falwell, was more pandering and trying to use the ‘cloth of his father’ to try influencing some sheeple that the Donald “now” was not really the Donald we all knew from his long and checkered liberal backing, self-centered, cut-throat past.

Had you read, I did reference Bakker or Swaggert relating to used car salesman comparison. Any connect of Bakker / Swaggert to Falwell Jr.’s pandering to Trump was yours.

Whether or not Mr. Falwell Jr. is truly inspired or is more akin to Bakker or Swaggert is your worry. I give them no thought except when they run out shouting, ‘look at me’.

I can see a monetary thread that runs through them all and which taints my and many other Christian’s view that many such as Bakker or Swaggert and potentially Falwell Jr. are mostly inspired by amassing their personal wealth through the use of some Photoshopped halo.
