England doesn’t get free university tuition. The free medical care is superb though. Had a suspected stroke (which fortunately turned out to be merely a seizure) and they kept me in for two days running tests and it didn’t cost me a penny! In America I’d have been crippled with ruinous medical bills for having the audacity to have had a medical emergency through no fault of my own. If I’d had cancer or a heart attack, I doubt it would have been conducive to getting to focus on my recovery. How’s that collective shafting of the American population by the vested interests of the American insurance and medical industry working for ya? :D

i believe they once did offer free, or a very low tuition post secondary education. even now, i believe the costs of college/university education is much cheaper in England than in the States. Their medical care via the NHS is considered free; tho, i believe that workers in the UK pay for it out of their paychecks while employed. could be wrong about that?? unfortunately, a person might have to wait for treatment under the NHS. Had a family member get ill while visiting in England, and an NHS doctor came to the house to check on them, at no charge. it’s true about the outrageous costs of medical care in the US, with all the premiums, co-pays, deductibles, exclusions; itemized medical charges for every little bandaid, test, doctor and room charges, etc. there is no save $2500 per annum, keep your own doctor and other false promises in the UN-Affordable Care Act passed by our unrepresentative Congress.
Oh thank you for correcting me about the college thing. I am so grateful that you were able to have such great medical assistance during that time. And you are right our medical needs some tweaks and hopefully it will happen. Actually it is going to have to happen.
