A Tea Party-affiliated congressman has become the latest lawmaker to endorse Sen. Ted Cruz for the Republican nomination.
North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows announced Wednesday night on Fox News that he would throw his support behind Cruz's campaign and join the Texas senator's team in Iowa later this week.
"We are approaching a historic election that has the potential to fundamentally change our nation as we know it. Ted Cruz is the principled, conservative leader we need in the White House," Rep. Meadows told Greta Van Susteren. "On issue after issue, Cruz has told the truth and done what he said he was going to do."
Meadows, who represents the Tar Heel State's 11th District, is known for his move last July to boot then-House Speaker John Boehner from his leadership spot. The second-term congressman filed a motion against the speaker, escalating the battle between the Republican party's conservative and moderate divisions.
"You'd be hard-pressed to find a more principled conservative in the House than Mark Meadows," Cruz's campaign said in a statement following the announcement. "He has been a champion for limited government and has the battle scars to prove it."
Cruz has received 20 congressional endorsements, including those from conservative hawks Reps. Steve King of Iowa, Louie Gohmert of Texas and Mo Brooks of Alabama.

GO TED CRUZ!! VOTE TED CRUZ!!
One reason the TeaParty movement has endured is because there is no leader. Anyone who claims to be one is full of it.
How many congress critters have endorsed Trump. I’ve not seen any posted yet.
Perhaps that’s the reason why *The Free State Project* is such a flop.
Mark WHO?
That's your take on this?
The headline writer called Meadows a TP leader. Meadows didn't call himself one.
Actually the headline writer didn’t even call him a TP leader.
Mark Meadows is one of the “Freedom Caucus” talkers who did not rise to the level of opposing Paul Ryan for Speaker.
He is one of the 236 Republicans other than those listed below who should not be re-elected this year.
Is Meadows CYA’ing himself with conservatives by endorsing Cruz? I would say so, but I do support Cruz anyway.
Cruz does have endorsements from the list below.
THE REPUBLICAN HEROES OF THE HOUSE.....
DAVE BRAT-VIRGINIA
CURT CLAWSON-FLORIDA
BILL POSEY-FLORIDA
TED YOHO-FLORIDA
LOUIE GOHMERT-TEXAS
RANDY WEBER-TEXAS
WALTER JONES-NORTH CAROLINA
PAUL GOSAR-ARIZONA
THOMAS MASSIE-KENTUCKY
I would not vote for the other 236 Republicans including my own congressman in the primary or general elections.
I would vote third party or write in a name in the general if I had to.
Person isn’t claimed in the story, as “TEA Party leader” but mere as a TEA Party “supported candidate”.....who won!
None so far. Only one former congressman, Virgil Goode.
and under the bus he goes...
They have plenty of company. Anybody who dares question the great and powerful oz must be destroyed. He and only he can save us.:)

Not a single one to date. But hold on and they’ll come crawling his way.
Besides it can’t be true, Trump has told us that nobody likes Cruz and we must believe it.
Trite (5)
The guy who started the effort to oust Boehner.
Thank you. One of the most important topics and one of the annoying aspects of Cruz.
Trump hasn’t worried about trading favors for endorsements from members of Congress like Teddy. After he wins the primary I’m sure some will get on board in the general.
