Cruz is beginning to sound desperate and desperation is a real turnoff to voters.

For what it’s worth, I think Cruz wins Iowa. But what do I know? I just feel that Iowa voters really like their feeling of self-importance and the media is going to ram this skipped debate right down Iowa’s throat. If Trump wins Iowa he’s a frickin genius.

If Cruz loses Iowa, it’s serious trouble for him.

“should he lose, he may never be able to break through as GOP voters look elsewhere for an anti-Trump candidate”

Really? Who would that be? Not sure there are any candidates I prefer over Trump other than Cruz.

Cruz supporters are not going anywhere, unless of course Trump wins and picks Cruz as his VP. He’s MUST get Cruz supporters. There is no path to victory in the general without them.

Cruz (And PACs) has spent more money in Iowa than any other candidate.

Cruz has 12,000 volunteers and over 800 staffers in Iowa.

He has to win it. He spent his wad there.

Certainly he's acting like it's over for him if he doesn't.

Meanwhile Trump will skip the debate and was campaigning in North Carolina today.

Those tea leaves are not hard to read.

3 more debates coming in Feb.
One in NH before the NH primary
One in SC before the SC primary
One in Texas before the SEC primary

I believe both Trump and Cruz will still be around by the third one.

After the events of the last 2 days, will both participate?

Who else may still be hanging on?

IA. NH, and SC, frankly, only have importance to those who make a living at this thing. By that, I mean politicians and the media.

Ask Huckabee and Santorum faired after IA.

Us political junkies hang to this stuff.

Most people do not, and just live their daily lives, working, raising families, and do not pay attention until this circus comes to their towns.

The SEC primary will most likely give us the nominee.

Neither Trump or Cruz needs to win the first 4 primaries, they just need to stay 1-2 even 3, going into the SEC primary, no matter what the media and the politicians tell us.

An Iowa win for Cruz means he can hold on for a while, an Iowa win for Trump means the money wills start to dry up and after NH, it will be gone. Once Trump starts to run the table noone is going to throw good money after bad.

Anyone running for president is unlikely to not want to be in the limelight. Ridiculous premise.

"A vote for anyone else is a vote for Trump," Cruz told an older well-wisher here privately after an event under a Valentine's Day-themed quilt.

"To be honest, even if you want another candidate to win the nomination, if Trump wins Iowa, that just sucks the oxygen out for everyone," he added. "So, just think about it."

This is Cruz's attempt at operation chaos, telling other candidates to vote for him just to stop Trump for the long game.

And this is the guy that acts so nice, so upstanding. He's a lying, scheming, crook.

No wonder Cruz panicked when Trump told Fox no thanks for that BS debate. Now Cruz will have to fight off the “unbiased” moderators and the 3 “special” google guest while Trump is enjoying his own event.

If the majority of Cruz supporters are Christians, why are they fretting about a loss? Does not God have the world in His hands?

I have learned from the 2008 election not to trust conservative media. So after being dismayed at the future I quit fretting. If the Great Tribulation is around the corner, so be it.

I do believe it is, by the way, unless there is a worldwide revival and we are given a reprieve.

All the talk about how Trump "can't win Iowa" because he has "no ground game there", means that if Trump doesn't win Iowa, it's no big deal, but if he DOES win Iowa, then that's a big hit against the presumed viability of the other candidates.

If Trump wins a majority of delegates in each state up to and including March 1 "Super Tuesday", it will suck the air out of all the other campaigns.
