âI am going to take care of everybody.â
âThe governmentâs gonna pay for it.â
Everyone has been covered since the 1970s, but I’m glad you’re here to make sure we’re informed.
It’s always so encouraging to have someone who doesn’t know dilly about health care, try to trash others on the subject.
Didly
The government loves you.
Donald Trump: Obamacare's going to be repealed and replaced. Obamacare is a disaster if you look at what's going on with premiums where they're up 45, 50, 55 percent.
Scott Pelley: How do you fix it?
Donald Trump: There's many different ways, by the way. Everybody's got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, "No, no, the lower 25 percent that can't afford private." But--
Scott Pelley: Universal health care?
Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now.
Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of how?
Donald Trump: They're going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably--
Scott Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?
Donald Trump: --the government's gonna pay for it. But we're going to save so much money on the other side. But for the most it's going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything.
Vote Cruz
Trump is also right about negotiating prices with drug companies.
Exactly. We pay more for drugs than any other nation. If the drug companies want the government/medicare business, they need to negotiate.
When this issue came before congress in 2007, several conservatives voted for it, including Ron Paul, Steven LaTourette, Walter Jones, Steve Chabot. The rest were getting big $$ donations from the drug companies. This should have been in Bush’s Part D drug mandated plan, but was left out to keep the drug Companies happy.

You really don’t have clue one on this subject.
Have you ever heard of Medicaid?
If you don’t have funds to pay for your own health care, you will be signed up for Medicaid and the government (we) will pay.
This has been true at least back into the 70s. You didn’t know that did you.
So now you try to take Trump to task on something you don’t know anything about. Trump can’t make sure everyone is covered, because they already are.
He was wrong. So are you.
Get a life.
I think there is a lot of room for improvement over continuing on that path.
Don't you find it at least a LITTLE bit creepy that Trump is using the same arguments to sell his healthcare plan that Obama used to sell Obamacare?
Trump is also right about negotiating prices with drug companies.

Yes he is but some Cruzer’s are saying it is leftest.
I guess they would rather the government pay full asking price so the drug companies have plenty of money to pay off career politicians.
“I guess they would rather the government pay full asking price so the drug companies have plenty of money to pay off career politicians.”
They’ve got the drug companies in their stock portfolios.
"You are stupid. I love you, but you are an idiot."
“If you donât have funds to pay for your own health care, you will be signed up for Medicaid and the government (we) will pay.”
Not exactly.
Medicare/Medicaid doesn’t cover all the costs, rather they cover a fraction.
They force healthcare providers to make up the difference by raising the prices on everyone else
If this becomes difficult or impossible, they refuse to take medicare/medicaid patients.
It’s an abomination, and doesn’t work, and actually does need to be “fixed”
Guess what everyone is already covered that is what Medicaid is and the government already pays. But in current form no one negotiates better pricing. Making a deal with hospitals doesn’t sound so crazy.
Yep.
The die is cast. Obamacare was designed for the specific purpose of train-wrecking the private health care industry and instigating a crisis that would open the door to single payer.
I guess the only question now is, you do you want in charge of that?
Reading Trump’s book and he is for Repealing ObamaCare.
His emphasis is on private markets, specifically, allowing everybody to cross state lines and allow the market to be competitive, thus lowering costs.
