CT: Police 'Gotta Cover Our Ass' on Open Carry ~ VIDEO

The First and Second Amendments protect and reinforce each other.

In a free society, there is always pressure to expand the power of the government to suppress freedom of speech.  Those in power, for the last 100 years, have been infringing on our right to bear arms, and claiming that those who support the Second Amendment are kooks, in an attempt to suppress our First Amendment rights.

With the voice provided by the First Amendment and the Internet, brave activists have been rolling back those attacks on the First and Second Amendments, and have been winning important victories.

Michael Picard is one such activist in Connecticut.  It takes a brave man to stand up to several Connecticut State Troopers, and calmly and rationally demand his rights.  It takes more guts to decide to continue the fight in court, when an easy out is offered.

Here are the words of Michael Picard:

Back on Friday, September 11th, 2015, in West Hartford, CT, I was illegally detained, frisked and searched, and my gun, permit and camera were seized, I was threatened with arrest for interfering (apparently, freedom of speech passes for interfering), and the Connecticut State Police fabricated a story, on camera, to trump up the charges because they needed to charge me with something ("Let's give him something." to cover their ass ("Gotta cover our ass."), charging me with "creating a public disturbance" for legally open carrying my firearm and "negligent pedestrian" for legally holding up a sign on public property, as well as being threatened with arrest (again) if I did not pay the fine.

The video is chilling. In the police car, you hear the officers conspiring to come up with charges against him. The one sentence contains multiple felonies; obstruction of justice, conspiracy, denial of rights under color of law. If the prosectution has any sense, they will settle quickly.

The prosecution won’t settle, they will try to bankrupt the key wit attorneys fees. This is CT.

Malloy is the Governor. He is trying to obtain the Presidency by appearing as anti-Second Amendment as possible.

No wonder the prosecutor was trying to make this go away with a $25 fine. He wants to keep his job...

A decent and law-abiding citizen will generally make a situation worse by adding a contemporary robotic police officer.
The pleasant and honest days of Officer Friendly are long over. Avoid interacting with police at all costs. Thy are NOT there to help you.

This may get interesting, considering that the State Police report to Governor Malloy.

Malloy is trying to carve out his nitche as the most anti-Second Amendment Democrat in the race against Hillary and Bernie.

That is a pretty tall order...

The trial date has been set for Monday, April 25th, 2016, at 9:30am, at the New Britain courthouse (20 Franklin Sq., New Britain, CT).

How stupid are they? A trial?

The video/audio did these guys a number. There are some really good attorneys out there who deal with this specifically. I would get the very best. I'd make my full time job to go after these guys.

For infractions in Connecticut, there is no jury trial.

The case will be heard by a judge.

Judges are usually sympathetic to police.

That link looks spooky. Btw, you call conspiracy an infraction? Funny stuff.

Btw, It's been like this forever. The justice system is just as f'd up and corrupt as the rest of government. It's no secret.

The only thing missing is the two shooting the guy and disposing of the body.

And some can’t figure out why Americans not longer have any faith or trust left for those in government...Incredible.

Naw, the tickets the police wrote on the open carrier are “infractions”, payable by a fine, without going to court.

Some states, including Connecticut, do not allow jury trials for “infractions”.

Others do, such as Wisconsin.

No, I call conspiracy conspiracy. Are you suggesting the law in that neck of the woods condones public servants drumming up stories to make their motives and actions appear legitimate?

You asked if I call conspiracy an infraction.

I said, no, infractions are what the police tickets are called in Connecticut.

I do not know how you got from that to suggesting that you called conspiracy an infraction; clearly you did not call conspiracy an infraction, neither did I.

So to be clear:

The officers involved themselves in a conspiracy. They are not on trial.

The trial will be for the infractions (tickets) that the officers wrote on the open carrier.

The open carrier will not be allowed a jury trial, because Connecticut does not allow jury trials for infractions.

I hope that clears up the miscommunication that we are having.

You evaded the question @15.

I never alleged they were on trial. Those are your words, not mine. I understand about the ticket and their allegations. Answer the question.

Here is your question:

“Are you suggesting the law in that neck of the woods condones public servants drumming up stories to make their motives and actions appear legitimate?”

Here is my answer:
I am suggesting that it is possible. I do not know if it is true. We will see with the results of this coming court action.

Yes, the audio/video strongly suggest that....lol

The video shows them doing it.

It does not show the rest of the system condoning it, though that seems likely, because they think they can get away with it.

We will see. Maybe they will be taken to school. Digital recorders are creating a new reality that the police have to deal with.
