It depends what you mean by the “establishment”. If you're talking about the liberal media, they continue to conflate Trump's remarks about shooting people without losing his supporters or tell outright lies like his cheering on the expulsion of a turban-wearing protester at one of his rallies. If you're talking about the GOP establishment, they seem to be coming to a realization that the moderate candidates are not getting much traction, even Rubio. With that being the case, Trump, who proclaims himself a deal maker, is preferable in their eyes to Cruz, who is an uncompromising conservative.
In 1960 and 1968, Nixon, who was an outsider to the Rockefeller wing of the GOP, was seen as preferable to Goldwater or Reagan. They would later regret their support after Watergate.

I can appreciate that Trump has been a leader in challenging Political Correctness since he’s announced, and I respect that many have been encouraged by him. Although a Cruz supporter, I have appreciated some of the things he’s said as well.
But surely people will recognize that Cognitive Dissonance is simply not a platform.
