BEIJING: Two Chinese nationals were killed and another wounded in a suspected bomb blast in Laos, Chinese state media said on Monday, the latest incident in which Chinese citizens have been killed abroad as the country's economic footprint grows.

China's embassy in Laos confirmed the blast, which occurred on Sunday morning. The victims had been travelling in a vehicle on the mountain roads of Xaysomboun province, the official Xinhua news agency said.

First off, Laos is .01% Muslim, I looked it up, it's a heavily Buddhist nation, so that largely rules that out. I doubt if the Uighurs would be there either, doing this. It must be some sort of Insurgency and possibly, done by some who don't appreciate those foreigners getting involved in the local minds. Of course, Hmong territory crosses the mind as well but this info is vague.

Kind of a curious story I couldn't help but post. By coincidence, Kerry just arrived in Laos as well but I found this story to be interesting.

Pardon me, “local mines”, apparently the Chinese were working in regards to some local mines there per the link.

Perhaps the 10,000 Red Chinese troops illegally in northern Laos during the war still rangles some of their victims.

My informed guess is that the local mountain tribes don’t want the communist Chinese or communist Lao gov’t in there to exploit their territory. They’ve been fighting for more than 40 years. The communists have been trying to exterminate them since they helped us in that war.

I have heard that China has basically taken over Laos, so perhaps there is some resentment.

” I doubt if the Uighurs would be there either...”

That bomb in Thailand targeted Chinese tourists and was done by non-Thai muslims.

Curious also since Obummer is speaking about cleaning up ordinance from Vietnam war-

3,2,1 for Kerry to blame on unexploded ordinance from Viet Nam war era.

The Kingdom of 10,000 Elephants, probably the one place tigers still survive in their habitat the best is a far cry from an international city like Bangkok. If such terrorists were to carry out acts, they’d probably do it in the city at that. This really is up the alley of some of those mountain tribes or other types of insurgents.

My dad was primed to take a job with International Paper in Laos in 1960.
He suffered a heart attack and the plan was scrubbed.

Just as well.

Laos is a heroin opium grower. For all we know, maybe these minds interfere with the drug business, I had not thought of that earlier.

The Golden Triangle, I had not thought of that before:
