And a copy of Trump’s offer is where?

Trump’s word alone is not enough. If he said he would have paid $5 million, I bet she would have taken it. Trump probably wanted it for a fraction of the value. No other reason he tried to use eminent domain to get it.

Trumpistas just don’t get it. Anybody with any knowledge of real estate law knows there are six rights of property ownership - to sell, to lease, to use, to give away, to enter and exit, and (most importantly here) the right to refuse all of them. Mrs. Coking exercised this right. Trump, not liking her answer, sought then to use government’s authority to deny her of those rights. It is disgusting, unamerican, and he’s right to be defensive about it - it’s that abhorrent.

Think about it - Mrs. Coking was stubborn, and won in the end; how much did it cost her to defend her rights, though? What would’ve happened to her if she couldn’t afford it?

The fact that Donny is still proud of this charade should tell everybody what a disgusting prick he really is.

You are correct. The $5 million was the asking price from the heir decades later. He sold for ~500K
The eminent domain case was started by the prior developer, Bob Guccione, in the 1970’s, not by Trump who took over the project. Guccione offered $1 million. Vera’s neighbors that sold after Trump became involved got $2 million which is what he has stated she was offered.

Atlantic city was desperate to host urban renewal projects and their decisions were based on trying to get a tax base and revitalize a decaying city. Atlantic City officials were the ones that condemned Vera’s house to get her out. She went to court and won because the city had not defined clearly what Trump could do with the property.

Eminent domain is vulnerable to abuse but offering the city a project is not the issue. Its the officials that need to be scrupulous about whether the public good is important enough to impose their will on an individual.

Why move the goal posts away from the lie in Ted’s tweet?? Why throw red herrings on it?

No amount of goal post moving or red herring throwing will alter the fact the statement in Ted’s tweet is a lie.
