Living legend and conservative heroine Phyllis Schlafly slammed National Review for their efforts to take down GOP frontrunner, Donald Trump.
On The Laura Ingraham Show, Schlafly declared, "I don't recognize National Review as the authority on conservatism." Schlafly blasted National Review for being more eager to fight Donald Trump than they are to fight the Republican donor-class, whom Schlafly calls the Kingmakers.
Schlafly said:
National Review is not the authentic conservative. You know, Bill Buckley was for giving away the Panama Canal, which was an enormous issue with conservatives. And in ten years they never wrote a single article about the Equal Rights Amendment, so they were no help against that. So I don't recognize National Review as the authority on conservatism.
The 91 year-old Phyllis Schlafly helped launch the conservative movement and has been active in politics for more than one-fourth of American history.
In the interview, Schlafly explained that the problem with National Review is "just that they don't want to fight the Establishment. And the Establishment- the people I call the Kingmakers- have been picking our candidates for so many years and they've given us a whole bunch of losers. And I think people want a fighter, and they also want to deal with the immigration problem. We don't want to turn out like Germany. I thought the Germans were tough, but they've caved in to let people come in."
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Schlafly explained that immigration represents an existential issue for the nation:
If we don't stop immigration--this torrent of immigrants coming in--we're not going to be America anymore........... They look to the government to solve all of their problems, and as soon as we have a high majority of people who think that, it's going to be a different country.

She is correct on that. National Review has become a place for the GOPe.
If we don’t shut down the border, and soon, nothing else will matter.

Great viewpoints, only issue I have is: these attacks serve only to water down the conservative message.
Can you imagine what a NR issue would have been like if they had instead invited writers to actually present a strong conservative case for each author’s chosen candidate?
To dedicate an issue to tearing apart a candidate is just hypocrisy after all these times of suck it up and Vote Romney or Vote McCain.
Support your candidate; stop wasting everyone’s time telling how badly another candidate sucks.
Correct. The fundamental definition of “what is a country” is to describe it’s borders. And if you can’t control who crosses the boarder, in essence you don’t have one. And thus, you don’t have a country either.
While I agree with the statement contained in the headline, neither is Phyllis.

Conservatism is not the question. Trumpees do not value conservatism.
The question is why now trashing personally instead of acknowledging differences and discussing those differences?
For me, the one issue / deal breaker is stopping illegals and securing the border.
If this is not done, victories on *any* other issues will be hollow and temporary. Literally, nothing can be fixed if borders are not fixed first.
