Washington, D.C. is shutting down as this historic winter storm continues to cover the nation's capital in snow. But as the winds pick up speed and the snow piles up, the men who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier never stop keeping watch. The first photos are in from the Tomb today, and they are going viral!
The Sentinel's Creed, which these brave men memorize, is:
"My dedication to this sacred duty is total and whole-hearted. In the responsibility bestowed on me never will I falter. And with dignity and perseverance my standard will remain perfection. Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements, I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability. It is he who commands the respect I protect, his bravery that made us so proud. Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day, alone in the thoughtful peace of night, this soldier will in honored glory rest under my eternal vigilance."
These 99 words describe the meaning of their duty. They will often use the words "Line-6" by Tomb Guards while they converse within their chain of command.
May God Bless them for their service to America and our fallen soldiers.
Please share this everywhere on Facebook. And May God Bless America!

The only real men in town.
got that right
Amen.
Wow, what a great post after all the division on this site lately! Thank you!
Absolutely Great post Captain, thank you very much!
This vet salutes the Army guards of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
.
makes this grown man want to cry
Lots of great photos at the link.
A basic training soldier had been inducted out of my training unit, specifically for the ranks of the 3rd Infantry Division, in order to be a sentry on the watch. He had to maintain a waist line of 28 inches. No exceptions. This guy looked like a middle linebacker. I'm not sure how it all worked out.
Visited there with my wife in 2012 (we’re both vets) and saw the changing of the Tomb guards.
We were...at the center of the universe of military honor.
MUST go back soon. God bless those who guard those who are known but to God.
When you contrast obama with those men it is hard to believe they’re of the same species.
Great post BFAC! . (spot on)
If you go back during the summer you should go to the Marine Corps Barracks on a Friday evening at sunset. Probably the most moving event you could go to in DC.

Any words I could add would not do it justice.
:)
Yep!
Gd bless them. It doesn’t seem like the world is such a good place a lot of the time but here is meaning, here is the best of the human race.
My father & mother and uncle & aunt are interred at ANC, and the Lord willing, one day so shall I be. It’s comforting to know there are proud soldiers standing guard 24/7 over the mortal remains of our nation’s honored dead. There’s a special place in Heaven for the Tomb Sentinels.
They’re not.
Amen. When my time comes, it will be up to my family if they want me to be interred at ANC.
