My short list this cycle:
Pro-life, a person with inalienable rights from conception.
Smaller Government
Lower taxes for everyone
Repeal Obamacare
Secure the border
Enforce immigration laws
Yep. Medved knows he is supposed to act polite but he can’t maintain it for more than a few minutes. Then the nasty arrogance pops out especially if the caller sounds conservative. But he unfailingly praises a lefty like Bill Press, his guest yesterday. Not hard to figure why.
He was an academic Marxist at most. Not a Party member.
I wish I hadn’t seen this, because it lowers my opinion of some of the ostensibly conservative commentators whom I had previously respected. I’m glad that most of my favorite RINOs from FNC did not participate in this rat pack; although more and more I’m leaning toward NewsMax TV where one can find consistent conservatives, such as Steve Malzberg, J.D. Hayworth, and Dennis Michael Lynch.
It’s sad because when I ran a speakers program at a private club in NYC in the 90s, he was one of our guests. He was a really lovely guy - so nice to everyone and lots of fun when he spoke. But he’s completely different on his show - has no patience with callers unlike Rush.
I think you can count on it that Cruz/Trump will be the last men standing. Of course, upsets happen but...well, that’s what makes it fun, no?
Oh well, what’s a bit of Trotskyite, right deviation between comrades?
“They can all go to hell and stop trying to tell us all how we should vote lest we lose the moniker “conservative.” We don’t give a damn.”
I’ve been holding on to my conservative credentials for a long time, but they haven’t done any good since 1988.
Since I plan on voting for Donald Trump, is there somewhere I should go to surrender my conservative credentials, or should I just put them in the trash along with the broken campaign promises?
Are you being serious? Since when has Sowell kissed up to any mainstream member of the GOP? He tells his opinion no matter “who owns the ox that was gored”, and always has.
For some, the glass will always be half empty; whereas for others, it will always be half full. This article recounts the various reasons why Trump is weak as a conservative presidential candidate. It does not focus adequately on Trump’s strengths. The primary strength that attracts many voters (and causes them to ignore his weaknesses) is his aggressiveness. His aggressive stance against the Republican Establishment, against political correctness, against illegal immigration, against militant Islam, etc., leads many voters to believe (or hope) that he will protect and defend the United States at all costs. In contrast to the pacifistic philosopher-king currently in the White House, Trump promises to be a warrior-king, a berserker who will fling himself into the thick of battle and decimate our enemies. He has tapped into a theme that has deep historical roots in periods when a strong leader made the difference between survival and extinction. We are at that point again, this time with respect to losing our heritage (Western Civilization) to hordes of low functioning intruders from hostile, alien cultures intent on taking what we have and displacing or destroying us. If Trump can forestall or prevent this from happening, then his weaknesses are outweighed by his strengths. If he fails, then the issues complained about in the article won’t really matter.
Poll FReep: If the election were held today, who would be your first choice for President of the United States?
