North Korea says detains U.S. student for 'hostile act'
North Korea said on Friday it had detained a U.S. university student for committing a "hostile act" against the country who, if confirmed, would be the third western citizen known to be held currently in the isolated state.
The North's state-run KCNA news agency said the person entered North Korea as a tourist and was "was caught committing a hostile act against the state," which it said was "tolerated and manipulated by the U.S. government".
The Korean-language KCNA report said the detainee was a Virginia university student and had entered the country with an "aim to destroy the country's unity". It did not elaborate.
An official at the U.S. embassy in the South Korean capital Seoul said it was aware of the reported arrest.

P!
What did he do? Eat a cheeseburger in public view?
They hope the US will pay them $150 billion next....
Zero sympathy for anyone who chooses to enter N. Korea.
John Kerry to the rescue
Why would anyone be willing to go there???
Exactly...they saw the great deal that Iran got and want to get in on the game.
I noticed two years ago....some German train-enthusiasts (a club) had put together a tour package....just to go and ride for five days around North Korea on their old style trains. German state-run TV sent a crew with them, and they were escorted every step of the way by North Korean monitors. It was an interesting prospective, but I’d have to ask myself why anyone would take such a risk, and possibly get arrested for saying or doing something stupid there.
Why would anybody go to that Hellhole in the first place?
Let me guess.....a cell phone?
He’s worth a container ship of wheat.
Believe it or not some western tourists go to North Korea to ride on the old Soviet airliners they use. I’ve read about this on airliners.net. Some people have no brains.
I didn’t know there were regular tours of NK.
Foolish me, I think doing that is immoral and I couldn’t do it. Go to the slave park and observe them grind under dear leader’s thumb...
Following Obama’s reckless abrogation of US policy, the Norks are holding out for a payday of $87.56.
If you’re dumb enough to go.. then I don’t care what happens.
How about Dennis Rodman?
Zero sympathy for anyone who chooses to enter N. Korea.
That's the first thing that popped to mind as I saw the headline. We have projected weakness and capitulation.
