El Paso-area school districts will cancel classes Feb. 17 for Pope Francis' visit to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, a city directly across the U.S. border.
The Ysleta, Socorro and El Paso school districts cited finances, safety concerns, staffing challenges and transportation issues as reasons for closing.
A portion of César Chávez Border Highway will be closed during the papal Mass, and district officials say the city's bus and policing resources will be strained.

Can we close the border and keep them over there? Many Mexican kids cross over to the US to ride school buses to US schools.

Sounds like a PLAN to me.

What? Is the Pope looking for hookers, cock fights, drugs, murder-for-hire, or Fast-and-Furious guns?

Thanks to an ‘80s SCOTUS ruling,Texas is forever stuck with educating Mexican children who are in our border schools, so this is no surprise.

When I went to grade school, Rusk in El Paso, we had to walk. The only time a school bus was at the school was for something like a field trip. Hard to believe that was around 50 years ago now that I think about it. I feel old all of a sudden.

Weird, I heard it from someone that worked at Beaumont in the early 80s. Very local obscure joke!
