It turns out at least one firearm trafficked into Mexico (and lost) through the Obama Justice Department's Operation Fast and Furious made its way into the upper echelons of the Sinaloa Cartel.
According to a report by Fox News' William La Jeunesse a .50-caliber rifle connected to the program was found inside the lair of notorious drug kingpin El Chapo Guzman. Bolding is mine:
After the raid on Jan. 8 in the city of Los Mochis that killed five of his men and wounded one Mexican marine, officials found a number of weapons inside the house where Guzman was staying, including the rifle, officials said.
When agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives checked serial numbers of the eight weapons found in his possession, they found one of the two .50-caliber weapons traced back to the ATF program, sources said.
Out of the roughly 2,000 weapons sold through Fast and Furious, 34 were .50-caliber rifles that can take down a helicopter, according to officials.
Federal law enforcement sources told Fox News that 'El Chapo' would put his guardsmen on hilltops to be on guard for Mexican police helicopters that would fly through valleys conducting raids. The sole purpose of the guardsmen would be to shoot down those helicopters, sources said.
Based on the intention of the firearm to be used to take down a helicopter, it should be noted another .50-caliber rifle trafficked through Fast and Furious was in fact used to take down a Mexican helicopter in 2011.
CBS News has learned that the recent case of a Mexican military helicopter forced to land after it was fired upon is linked to the ATF Fast and Furious "gunwalker" operation.
Drug cartel suspects on the ground shot at Mexican government helicopters two weeks ago in western Mexico, forcing one chopper to land. Authorities seized more than 70 assault rifles and other weapons from the suspects.
Among the seized weapons are guns sold to suspects as part of the ATF sting operation, sources say. That information came from traces of serial numbers.
"Shooting at an aircraft is a terrorist act," says one U.S. law enforcement source. "What does that say if we're helping Mexican drug cartels engage in acts of terror? That's appalling if we could have stopped those guns."
This news comes just under two weeks since El Chapo was captured by the Mexican military after escaping from prison twice. Further, this news comes hours after a federal judge struck down President Obama's assertion of executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents back in 2012.
Officials are working on the extradition of El Chapo to the U.S.
Indicating, in effect, that one of obama’s first acts in office was to arm the Sinaloa cartel.
And it was pretty much all downhill from there.
One year left.
Anybody buying one of those gets flagged. Unless you want to believe the Feds have no problem with someone spending 12K on a weapon that can go against armored vehicles.
All part of the plan.

Yeah, they could do that, but the M-82 is a long-range sniper rifle in the US Military. It’s big and heavy and would be hard to use to take down an aircraft. It has a bi-pod and a high-power scope sight for a reason. Just more government lying gloing on here.
One year , 10 hours 23 minutes and 5 seconds left..
“...Indicating, in effect, that one of obamaâs first acts in office was to arm the Sinaloa cartel.”
Obama and Holder wanted to see as many dead people, Mexican and American, as they could generate so they could BLAME AMERICAN GUNS for deaths — a planned attack on the Second Amendment. IMHO, a capital crime.
That is the reason teamobama wants him here in supermax. To keep him quite.
More proof that Obama was arming the Mexican drug lords.
One of my good friends was a virgin helicopter pilot in Nam, and his copter was shot down with an AK 47. He lived and learn to let his gunners clear any area before coming into range of an AK 47.
I’m surprised they didn’t bury that info.
And it was not some effort to track down where cartels go and how things flow. It was planned that these guns would be found at cartel shootout scenes and that would be proof that American 2nd amendment was causing violence in Mexico. This was supposed to be a point where Obama could move against assault rifles etc.
His scam was supported by a flurry of news stories in the year before that American guns were causing the cartel wars.
I saw it coming and even commented here back then. And sure enough, it was all a set up.
This, and we also arm AL qeida in syria.
utterly criminal

During Vietnam, I worked for a company that supplied components to Bell Helicoptor for the Huey rotor blades. We had to make “repair kits” for those same blades to fix bullet holes (the aft portion of he blades are a honeycomb structure).
Helicopters don’t take too kindly to gunfire, and you’re right an AK is a whole lot more effective at shooting into the air than a Barrett.
I don’t see why the new President-Elect (Trump or Cruz) can’t move in early and toss Obastard’s semi-black ass out into the street. As I recall, BHO barged his way into the White House while GWB was still acting president and took over.
Goose/Gander situation as I see it.

My deer rifle and wild pig/hog rifle is the Remington semi auto 30/06 knock off of the M1. I have killed deer/pig from 100 to 300 yards with it. However, those deer were on the ground and not moving/yawing around in the air. I could never had made those shots with a 50 caliber. The gun is too long and heavy.
Use an AK shoot and spray.
Utterly treason.
Maybe Obama needs to have gun control on HIMSELF..seems he is the one giving guns to criminals who end up killing people
