Ted Cruz: “what happened in Mississippi was appalling”… Really ? Really Ted ?
Conservative Tree House ^ | July 8, 2015 | Sundance

Posted on 01/20/2016 4:48:10 AM PST by true believer forever

Senator Ted Cruz seems to express disgust and outrage against the tactics deployed by what he calls the “DC Machine”. Cruz states that their conduct in the Mississippi runoff was "incredibly disappointing" etc.

However, we now know - from specific documentation provided by internal research into the activity around the Mississippi campaign - that the National Republican Senatorial Campaign, the NRSC, was the financier for the attack ads against Chris McDaniel.

So who is the "DC Machine", this "leadership of the NRSC", that Senator Ted Cruz is so incredibly disappointed in?

Whoopsie - Yes it would appear that Ted Cruz is incredibly disappointed in ?

Nuf said.

A filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) shows that the NRSC paid National Media Research, Planning & Placement of Alexandria, Virginia $13,000 for media production and $69,000 for the attack ads.

TED CRUZ - THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION

Senator Cruz took office in January,  2013.  January through September of 2013 Cruz campaigned against Obamacare, forcing a government shutdown. It appeared he was doing the right thing – for the right reasons.  However, he received  intense backlash for a junior senator with only a few months on the job.  He was ridiculed and marginalized.   Then, he made a telling  decision.

In October of 2013 Cruz made a strategic decision to regain credibility and influence. To achieve this he partnered with the very political machine he previously opposed, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and then Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell.

McConnell directed Cruz to join the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Through 2014 Cruz served as Vice-Chair inside the NRSC, a powerful part of the DC machine.  He forwarded their program refusing to assist any political entity not in alignment with the group's objectives.  In short, he sold his soul to McConnell Inc.  In early 2014, McConnell vowed to beat back tea party candidates wherever they surfaced.  "I think we are going to crush them everywhere," he said in March, 2014.

Cruz publicly separated himself from McConnell Inc., but carried the objectives of the 2013 plan forward quietly behind the scenes.  While publicly railing against what he called the DC Cartel, a group he was bound to assist from his prior pledge to them, he worked to achieve their goals nonetheless. When the President of the Chamber of Commerce called for an immigration package,  conservatives erupted, accusing the Chamber of supporting amnesty to line the pockets of big business.

Senator Ted Cruz never once campaigned for a conservative in the 2014 mid-term races, nor did he ever discuss the absence of a federal budget once Republicans were in control of both the House and the Senate.

Rand Paul and Ted Cruz appeared on the Sean Hannity Program on January 13, 2014.  Both Senators said they would not help new conservative faces attempting to unseat incumbents in that year's primaries.

Rand Paul said: "I will stay out of any race that involves an incumbent."   Looking toward Paul, Ted Cruz responded: "I'll likely do the same."

Both Ted Cruz and Rand Paul were strongly supported and would not have won without support from the grass roots and the Tea Party.  However, when they were needed most – they chose to stand on the sidelines.

I would ask that ALL Cruz supporters stick to the facts they have to rebut the narrative presented here. If you attack the sources or the poster, I will assume that you have no valid argument against the contentions here. If you attempt to change the topic, I will take that as affirmation of these very serious accusations.

That Cruz allowed, or did not stop, the smearing of Chris McDaniel will be forever burned in my brain.

Some here claim Cruz has character and is a true conservative. Not when he facilitated this attack, without offering a single word of objection, a good man to be smeared as a racist. And Cruz stood by, watching the Mississippi GOP use time-tested DEMOCRAT garbage to do it.

Cruz is a self-centered, ambitious phony and a hack.

He has no character and is no conservative like I’ve ever known.

Yes, by all means, let’s talk facts. Who is the co-Chair of the Miss. effort for Cruz? Why it’s State Senator Chris McDaniel.. evidently he doesn’t feel the way the other posters in this thread feel about Cruz.

https://www.tedcruz.org/news/cruz-for-president-announces-mississippi-leadership-team/

Quote from McDaniel himself ““Ted Cruz’s values are Mississippi’s values, and Mississippi is essential to the 2016 primary election process. I understand what it means to be a strong, principled leader who will fight even when it is not easy to do so. Ted Cruz is that kind of man,” said State Sen. Chris McDaniel. “That is why I am so incredibly excited to serve as a Mississippi Co-Chair for the Cruz campaign. I look forward to spreading Sen. Cruz’s conservative message and helping elect him to be our next President.”

None of us are privy to all the facts about what transpired. We know McConnell lied to Cruz about a great many things.

You're rightly concerned to avoid the fallacy of ad hominem in the discussion you don't seem at all concerned about the fallacy of guilt by association the narrative itself relies on.

Sure. CT cites a Gateway Pundit article from 2014 that points the finger at Governor Haley Barbour and his PAC for the Mississippi ads and that they received money from the NRSC. Which is further alleged by Got News and Red State which explicitly states that the NRSC may have been involved based on money from the NRSC to the PAC. However, there is no corroboration. This is a case of correlation and not causation. It basically comes down to, "NRSC may have been responsible for the MS ad buys that supported Cochran on black-owned radio stations because the PAC begain airing those ads around the same time they received money from the NRSC."

If Cruz was on that Senate committee he should have stepped down from it and gone public with what they were planning/doing. But you also have to realize that Cruz is only one member of the group. He is not the chairman of the committee. I support Cruz and will vote for him in the primary but I also like Trump. Both candidates are acceptable to me.

Uh. Cruz joined the NRSC and then left it because he was frustrated with the inability to fix it. He tried to fix DC from within but the status quo leadership doesn’t allow things to change. Cruz is an ally
Of Chris McDaniel. Apparently the McConnell leadership thinks they can control Trump easier than Cruz and are picking sides.

Cruz made a promise after 2012 not to support against incumbents in the senate. He tried to play by their rules but the rules all seem to benefit the money people in Washington.

It was an open secret that McConnell gave Cruz the position to try to rein him in and keep him out of trouble (from McConnell’s perspective). Cruz was effectively a head of the minority of the committee, which means he had zero power. McDaniels knows that, which is why he is a prominent Cruz supporter.

This attack is disingenuous. I am a Cruz supporter who defends Trump from unfair and disingenuous attacks. (I just defended him against George Will, just now.) I wish Conservative Tree House had higher standards.

Islam/s plans for a Ground Zero Mosque initiated 2009 was stopped in its tracks by determined New Yorkers....including Donald Trump.

Trump offered to put up his own money to stop the victory mosque triumphal Islamics planned near Ground Zero. Trump offered a princely sum for property worth much less. Trump was lacerated for his troubles.

Open border parasite, and alleged conservative, GROVER NORQUIST and his friends, distributed a letter lacerating Republicans....warning the GOP to drop its opposition.

Wholeheartedly defending Islamics, the Norquist cabal said the GOP was infringing upon religious freedom and alienating millions of Arab/Muslim American voters who believe in (gag) individual liberty, traditional values, and the rule of law (no mention of Christian beheadings and shooting up Christian co-workers).

Ted Cruz signed on w/ Norquist. (hat tip Aunt B)

Debris impact post-9/11. CREDIT: WIKI

UPDATE In 2010 the city stepped in and declared the mosque site an official landmark.....thus curtailing any building plans.
