Do some reason on Houston's former mayor Annise parker and ex-San Antonio mayor Julian Castro and see that Texas isn’t immune from Marxism.

Understood.Sadly,it seems that most major cities have pigs as mayors.I've read that even Salt Lake City's mayor is a bit of a pig.

I included the lol because it was a joke. But if you are going to go by that moniker and then dump on another state, you have to admit somebody is going to notice the irony, right?

I chose that moniker shortly after pervert marriage was declared to be legal in Massachusetts by the Marxists on our Supreme Court.A local talk host,Howie Carr, coined the name "Gay State" after that decision...it being a reference to our official nickname the "Bay State".

It never occurred to me that some would take it the wrong way...but then how many who've never heard Howie Carr would get it?

There’s nothing wrong with your moniker and as soon as I knew you were in MA, I knew I was a reference to the gay marriage thing. Was it the first state to recognize it? I forget. I know it was some state in the northeast.

Look, people take my moniker and accuse me of being “a spinster” (just this morning!) and in the bad old days, would occasionally make anti-Semitic comments. I’m neither Jewish nor a spinster and, in fact, the name no longer really suits me. But I’m stuck with it and at least it’s better than those monikers like “c284” or “dbf34”. Those drive me crazy.

Yup! IIRC Vermont established "civil unions" before our Supreme Court ruled but we were the first with pervert *marriage*.No input from the people,of course, but as we know the terrorists in black robes don't give a rat's *** about what the people want.

Considering how they vote I doubt most NYC voters despise the left

[[Consider this....New York’s current Governor is about as filthy as they come. The Mayor of NYC is an unapologetic Marxist. The state’s House seats are, today, about two-thirds Rat.Both their Senators are slimy,flea-ridden Rats.In 2012 only two states,VT and HI,gave Osama Obama a bigger margin of victory than New York (63%).Assuming that Gubernatorial,Mayoral,House,Senate and Presidential elections are, considered together,a good (or even *very* good) indicator of a state’s basic “morality quotient” then New York comes pretty close to bottom of the barrel.
Of course there are decent, respectable, admirable people living in New York State.Such people can even be found in New York City. But there can be little doubt that these people represent a small minority of the state’s...and city’s...population.]]

Exactly- The whole point of Cruz’s comment was that NY POLITICS is immoral liberal and socialist in nature- and everyone except those looking to bash on Ted recognize that this is exactly what Ted meant- He was not stating all NY’ers have immoral values- he was simply making the common sense observation that NY is run by godless immoral constitution destroying socialists

I agree that attributing moral values of people in large cities to the values of everyone else in a state is not worthwhile.

Living in Minnesota, I can tell you that a majority of Minnesotans are not liberal on most issues. But the powerful media in the Twin Cities and the university system commands the narrative in the state. Even Duluth which is a blue-collar labor city is losing some its allegiance to the DFL [Democrats].

But we still struggle to get any traction here against this strong liberal establishment

most people recognize that that is what he meant- people speak in generalizatiosn all the time- and people don’t automatically think “My goodness- you’re condemning the whole nation” or whatever- most people realize that when someone says “VT is socialist” they mean that VT is run by immoral socialists and that they do not mean everyone in VT is socialist

It’s no different than saying ‘The west coast is liberal’ - everyone realizes that the majority of the west coast is liberal and run by ultra liberal godless creeps

the fact is, like mentioned previously, people always speak In general terms- that doesn’t mean they have intentions of painting the whole state as godless immoral liberals

[[But we still struggle to get any traction here against this strong liberal establishment]]

as do the conservatives in NY- they are vastly outnumbered- outmuscled, and as a result, the State’s policy’s are decidedly gun grabbing, constitution violating, godless, immoral liberal policies- that is not to say that everyone in the state is that way- only that the state as a majority is obviously that way In regards to it’s values-

Places like NY, VT, Chicago etc are not good places to be a conservative- Liberal ideology has sewn up the state’s overarching policies unfortunately

Cruz should use more precise language in the future.

No not really.

I think most would agree that the common meaning of the phrase NY values doesn't extend to everybody in the state.

For example there's a common phrase "American Values".

I can't imagine any person using that phrase, really means that every single person in the US has those values. Phrases such as American Values or NY Values are used as generalizations.

Politicians are supposed to be aware that generalizations are sloppy thinking and backfire.

Actually I was trying to bridge a gap, let bygones be bygones and move forward. I am not in agreement with your “most people” thesis

[[I am not in agreement with your “most people” thesis]]

Are you suggesting most people are deep careful thinkers who parse their words precisely before they make a statement? Do you honestly think Ted felt that everyone in NY is a godless creep?

You may not agree with my ‘thesis’ but the fact is most people talk in generalities- it’s what we do because we’re lazy- that’s a fact- we speak rapidly and in generalities- you hear it all the time when you listen to conversations- This isn’t some novel ‘thesis’ I’m making up- it’s fact- We’re programmed to think and speak quickly, to take shortcuts- to generalize-

Now- of course what I just said is a generalization- obviously NOT everyone speaks generally- there are some of course that weigh each word out before speaking to see if it will offend anyone or not- but most people are not like this

Politicians are supposed to be aware that generalizations are sloppy thinking and backfire.

Generalizations are used legitimately all the time.

Examples.

New York voted for Obama.

Texas voted for Romney.

Liberty is an American value.

Abortion is a Democrat value.

On and on...

And it was Donald Trump who first defined what he thought NY values were.

Cruz simply called him on it.

[[I am not in agreement with your -most people- thesis]]

If you are suggesting that -most people- don’t recognize that people speak in generalities, then these -most people- you refer to are in denial because as I stated above, most people do ifnact speak in generalities- much more than they admit

But I suspect -most people- do infact know that Ted was speaking in general and not about specific individuals within the state-
