Trump says liberal Republican Scott Brown would make a great VP
The American Thinker ^ | January 17, 2016 | Ed Straker

"Donald Trump says that former senator Scott Brown, one of the most liberal Republicans, would make a great vice president.

....Why would Trump, who claims he has given up his New York values-based support for partial-birth abortion to become pro-life, consider a man for VP who is pro-abortion and so liberal on so many other issues?

This is especially worrisome because Trump will have the opportunity, if elected president, to make several Supreme Court picks. What if he picks liberals for those, too? It was a bit unnerving when he said his sister, who is an extremely liberal judge, would be a "phenomenal" Supreme Court pick.

Trump is basically a liberal, except possibly on the issue of immigration. (I say possibly because we cannot know until we see how many "good ones" are invited to return in an expedited fashion.) He can't be a first choice for any sane conservative.

Via NPR: "Well, if I ever ran for office, I'd do better as a Democrat than as a Republican," Donald Trump told Playboy in 1990. "And that's not because I'd be more liberal, because I'm conservative. But the working guy would elect me. He likes me."

Nov 26, 2016: Donald Trump: Mean-Spirited GOP Won't Win Elections

"...Romney's solution of "self deportation" for illegal aliens made no sense and suggested that Republicans do not care about Hispanics in general, Trump says.

"He had a crazy policy of self deportation which was maniacal," Trump says. "It sounded as bad as it was, and he lost all of the Latino vote," Trump notes. "He lost the Asian vote. He lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country."

The GOP has to develop a comprehensive policy "to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country," Trump says.".........

2004 to Wolf Blitzer:

...."Well, you'd be shocked if I said that in many cases I probably identify more as a Democrat," said [Donald] Trump at the time. "It just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans," he added. In 2007, he said that Hillary would be a good person to negotiate with the Iranians since she's "always surrounded herself with very good people. He also said Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney would be good negotiators as well.

As for the Second Amendment, abortion, and health care, Mr. Trump was decidedly on the progressive side of things. Favoring a pro-choice position, a ban on assault weapons, and supportive universal health care.".....

Barf. He was a good anti liberal to run against Fauxahantus, but picking hims would be a disaster in the making. Trump would run better with a dead albatros around his neck than with Scott Brown as a VP pick. That was his way of thanking his host or a Machiavellian misdirection to shore up NH, which I doubt since Brown is a carpet bagger.

IMO: Best choices for Trump at this point in in time is Kasich (OH), Christie(NJ), Walker(WI).

If he felt he was going to have trouble with Florida or the south in general, then the candidates to pick are Rubio or Huckabee.

Some would like him to pick Cruz, but that is a waste of a pick as if Trump gets the nomination, Texas is safely red.

Trump needs a rust belt running mate to break the Democratic legerdemain there. We pretty will much know the democrats have a +% advantage just in voter fraud there. Trump need a big margin.

Yeah, you know to grab the ladies with the lady parts. He’s got to cover all the angles if he doesn’t care about the issues.

He is hardly “favoring” Scott Brown.

What happened is that a woman shouted out “vice president” from the audience, and Trump, as he usually does, pointed at her and smiled and acknowledged her contribution.

Then he said some nice words about Brown, who was standing right next to him or a few feet away.

It seems I have spend a lot of time today correcting misleading headlines and erroneous stories. Can we send all the “writers” and “reporters” back to J school please? Or maybe back to catechism class.

LOL.

Now it is all becoming clear to me - when Trump made that really creepy comment about his daughter would be someone he wouldn't mind dating if he wasn't her father, or something like that.

Reminds me of Clinton saying he wouldn't mind dating that mummy if he were single.

Really don't have to stretch much with Trump, do we?

Trump has no filter; are your comments some how supposed to excuse and explain (a full time job these days for so many) what he lets fly?

I want to buy a vowel. What’s your point?

Pedigree can only get you so far. At some point genuine ability kicks in.

I was first for Walker, but then he putzed out. Eclipsed by Trump and even behind Rubio Christie and Cruz.

...”Vice president - hey, that sounds like it could, hey, hey, very good,” Trump said. “Hey, you know what? And he’s central casting. Look at that guy. Central casting,” he added. “He’s great. Great guy and a great, beautiful, great wife and family. So important.”....

I suppose Brown is one of the so-called smart people Trump plans to surround himself with.

Or was he just playing politics?

Politics!?

Gosh, I thought Trump didn’t do that.

Right.

No, this was not unfiltered. Trump has a great natural, quick, and spontaneous filter. It was something called politeness and a desire not to embarrass his host. It’s clear if you watch the speech.

Reporters of all kinds are too eager to jump on any suggestions of who Trump will pick as veep, because if it were true, it would be news. As it stands, it is all non-news.

You like how Trump campaigns and you don’t care what he’ll do (his pedigree, as you put it) once in office?

How do you know what he’ll do once in office?
