It really sounds odd to me.

Since two disappeared, it probably was just like they said, a collision.

On the other hand, two really big explosions sounds like it could have been an attack with anti aircraft missiles.

Not that odd. Minor rotor contact followed by immediate loss of control, disintegration, and two -very large- aircraft impacting the water.
