Zombie movies never win, either.
Microaggression against the evil, disenfranchised departed must end.

“For example, the gangster biopic “Straight Outta Compton” has often been highlighted as one of the films guilty of being snubbed by the Oscars. A movie that plays up (or plays down) to profiting off the worst stereotypes out there.”
I don’t follow that music, and it sure isn’t my thing, but by odd circumstance, I wound up seeing that last summer and walked out thinking it would be a big winner. They are right to be offended that this didn’t get a nomination.
Saw “beasts of no nation” and that was just unbelievable. But as a Netflix original, I think it wont get the recognition of a studio film.
Haven’t seen war room, but that wasn’t snubbed for being black, it was for being Christian.
Blacks are complaining about the GLBT types getting more of the preference benefits than they are, group-wise?
Too bad.
Lots of great films, not to mention profitable ones, come out of indie productions. Perhaps any "group" that feels disenfranchised could go that route, and hopefully laugh, if they really have the right talent at the right time, all the way to the bank.
Oscars aren't everything. Didn't Woody Allen eschew attending the year he won, to play with his regular weekly jazz ensemble?
