Paraphrasing Varina Davis regarding Mitt Romney's apparent belief that he somehow still matters: "If your performances in 2008 and 2012 were the best you could deliver when you were fresh and young, what better chance could you hope for, old?"

Tell you what Mitt - stop illegally diluting the labor force everytime there’s a demand side requirement for labor and stop attending religious services on the broken alter of absolutist free trade. Then the minimum wage will go up all by itself, far more than you’d ever ever raise it. Sheesh.

Obviously money doesn’t buy brains, class, or honesty.

Raise the minimum wage! Buy a loaf of bread for $10.00!

“And I heard a voice from among the four living beings say, “A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will cost a day’s pay. And don’t waste the olive oil and wine.”

I doubt an educated man such as Trump said "Wages in are country...."

It looks like that came from his Twitter feed. My guess is it was either a less-educated staffer posting or it was voice-to-text program struggling with his pronunciation/enunciation.

Mitt needs to retake Economics 101

Except we do not limit the franchise to economics professors.

The "minimum wage" debate is not an economic one (if it were, the minimum wage would be zero).

It's a political debate, and in the current climate, it is foolish to stand against raising it.

New Living Translation Revelation 6:6 .......................I see the ancients caught on, but no one learned from it? So, how many loaves did a drachma buy before the Unions came in?

Mitt needs to read why Walmart is not building proposed stores in Washington DC- they specifically mention the minimum wage as a factor.

Geez, the “severe conservative” strikes again. No, Mitt, you do NOT “help” the poor by raising the minimum wage, thereby reducing work opportunities for the poor. Ever heard of automation technology, Mitt? They will just automate more job functions and eliminate jobs.

Each state is free to set the minimum wage any where above the Federal minimum.

If the Chamber of Commerce Cheap Labor Express that runs the Republican Party thinks they are going to transform the USA from a manufacturing powerhouse to a nation of waiters and lawn keepers without social revolution than are whistling past the graveyard.

Increase minimum wage with the same formula you raise social security annually and that entire issue goes away as a election year issue for dems. It also prevents the sudden big jumps that happen when they finally raise it after a decade or whatever.

***it is foolish to stand against raising it.***

Only if you want to see government get more money, and those on fixed incomes struggle even more to survive.

Those who see the benefits of higher minimum wages will do nothing but lose those benefits to inflation, including government.

Willard:

I am a life long bookkeeper....

I worked mostly for small businesses—those who hired less than 20 employees, and many which only had one or two employees——IF any at all. NONE of these companies were funded by anything other than the capital out of the owner’s POCKETS. NO government loans. NO grants. No inherited money of any kind. Only one got the company from his Dad & he BOUGHT it—not a gift.

Even myself—& I went to self employment in 1980. I walked out of a time card job when I was accused of mailing a check when the bank account could not cover it. The owner mailed the check. When I walked out of that job-—I had $69 in the bank & all my current monthly bills were paid. I owned my house, but I had payments. My car was paid for. I got busy on the phone & have stayed self-employed ever since. I am now 76 & I have 2 clients I still work for. One I have had for over 45 years & the other for over 40 years. I must be doing something right to deserve that kind of loyalty.

Please state here on FR the companies YOU are running & exactly how many employees each company has & what the wages are in your companies.

Please be VERY detailed, Mitt.

BTW=- I worked at American Motors in Kenosha in Wisconsin when YOUR father was the CEO. About 1960. He came thru once a year & shook the hand of every single person there. It was impressive. I was making about $1.35 an hour there, doing Accounts Payable work. I am NOT sure you are a ‘chip off the block’.

Did you read my post?

There are NO benefits to a minimum wage, and the effects of raising it are all harmful.

However, we choose our elected officials using a method called "retards voting".

That being the case, it is foolish to make "anti-minimum wage" a campaign issue for an otherwise acceptable candidate.
