Mitt Romney: GOP 'Nuts' for Not Backing Minimum Wage Boost

Mitt Romney has bluntly criticized the Republican Party for not supporting a raise in the nations' minimum wage.

The former governor of Massachusetts, who was the Republican presidential nominee in 2012, told the Washington Post his party is missing the boat in opposing a wage boost touted heavily by President Barack Obama.

"As a party we speak a lot about deregulation and tax policy, and you know what? People have been hearing that for 25 years, and they're getting tired of that message," Romney said in a recent interview with the newspaper.

"I think we're nuts not to raise the minimum wage. I think, as a party, to say we're trying to help the middle class of America and the poor and not raise the minimum wage sends exactly the wrong signal."

Willard, you lost the right to be listened to when you lost a lock-in election by being to accommodating to your opponent.

Go away.

Republicans were nuts selecting Romney as a candidate. He’d make a better Democrat.

The establishment was assuring me during the previous election that mittwit was a smart businessman who had a firm grasp of economics.

I'm just not seeing any evidence of that.

Raise the minimum wage! Buy a loaf of bread for $10.00! A new car for only $99,000! I’ve been around since $1 an hour. My dad earned 30 cents an hour. Now in Dad’s time, bread was like 5 cents a loaf, and a new car was $750. In my time bread was 15 cents a loaf and a new car was $1500. Get the picture? The cost of living goes up, but nothing really changes, everything is relative. The more it changes the more it remains the same. Raise the minimum wage to $50 an hour, the result will be the same. My former 5 cent candy bar will be about $5, but who cares? My salary will be over $100K, but I will still be where I was financially when it was 5 cents.

I also hear we are nuts for not enacting some kind of new healthcare reform similar to what was done in Massachussetts. Oh, wait.

If I were Ted Cruz, I would say the second day in office, I would raise the minimum wage to $25.00 per hour, nationwide with a stroke of my pen. If Bernie sees that $25.00, I’d raise it to $45.00 and call him a piker. Then, I’d promise $100.00 and hour!

Eventually, even Dim voters would understand that the laws of economics are real, and not just a suggestion.

Mr. Romneycare says “people are tired ... of deregulation”.

Tells it all. From his and Rove’s control of the
party to their stealing all the contributed money.

Minimum wage laws make it illegal for low skilled people to work.

I say make it $15 per hour but allow the worker to claim a low skill exemption and opt out.
