Why a Trump-Cruz ticket could be next after South Carolina debate
Fox News ^ | January 15, 2016 | Douglas E. Schoen

Thursday night's debate isn't going to change the polls. Donald Trump will remain on top nationally and slightly ahead in Iowa. And he will maintain his wide lead in New Hampshire.

Ted Cruz will remain in second place with a decent chance of taking Iowa.

And the rest of the pack will stay largely where they are with Rubio in third place, and representing the strongest option that the GOP establishment is offering this cycle.

But what is new from after Thursday night's debate is the possibility of a Trump/Cruz alliance as we move through the primaries. Indeed, for the first time Trump floated the idea of taking Cruz as his vice president. Cruz didn't say no. And when Cruz suggested that Trump could be his vice president, Trump said "I don't think so" which turned into a laugh and they moved on.

A Cruz/Trump ticket would combine a lot of what GOP voters are looking for - and they would condense much of the vote. To be sure, there would be many who would be disappointed and disillusioned by such a ticket: having South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley deliver the rebuttal to the State of the Union address and talk of a brokered convention indicates that there are those opposed to a firebrand anti-establishment ticket....

Trump and Cruz clearly respect each other, and they pull their punches in a way the FR groupies don’t.

You could see the chemistry between the two and it works very, very well.I would like to see a cease fire between the two camps and an alliance so we all can take it to the uniparty full stop.I believe this could be the best for the country and putting it on the right track fixing the nightmare we have all had to endure for these past years.

The lawsuit has been filed in Houston. Lets see if Donald joins.

Schwartz v. Cruz, 4:16-cv-00106, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas (Houston).

I’m no longer a Trump/Cruz supporter.

Perhaps a Trump/Sessions...

I don’t honestly know Sessions that well, but I do like what I have seen.

That Cruz supporter wet dream is dead. It's dead because Cruz was too stupid to not see this birther thing coming and did nothing about it sooner.

No matter the ultimate outcome now, Cruz will always be poison.

Ted Cruz will never be elected President nor ever be Trump's 2nd fiddle VP.

I doesn’t look like Trump wants to be on the ticket with Cruz.

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/265995-cruz-raises-trumps-scottish-mother-in-rowdy-birther-fight

“......Trump has argued that Democrats could bring a lawsuit against Cruz serving in the White House because of his birth in Canada to an American mother.

When asked by Fox Business Network moderator Neil Cavuto why he wanted to bring the issue up now, Trump was open about the fact that it was because of Cruz’s rising poll numbers.

“Because now he’s doing a little bit better. No, I didn’t care before, it’s true,” Trump said to boos from the audience.

Cruz pushed back once again by noting his service as Texas’s solicitor general.

“I’ve spent my entire life defending the Constitution before the U.S. Supreme Court and I’ll tell you, I’m not going to be taking legal advice from Donald Trump,” he said.

When Trump noted that his former Harvard Law professor Lawrence Tribe agrees with him, Cruz brushed that aside too.

“Let me tell you who Larry Tribe is - he’s a left-wing, judicial activist, Harvard law professor who was Al Gore’s lawyer in Bush v. Gore, he’s a major Hillary Clinton supporter and there’s a reason why Hillary’s supporters are echoing Donald’s attacks on me — because Hillary wants to face Donald Trump in the general election,” he said.

“If this all works out, I’m happy to consider naming you as VP so if you happen to be right, you can get the top job at the end of the day,” Cruz joked.

Trump said he’d likely keep building buildings in such a scenario.”

you listen to trump’s birther attacks on Cruz. No way will Cruz want to be his vp and no way will trump choose him. that will make trump look foolish after saying Cruz needs to go to court to prove he’s a nbc and Cruz has not done that
