Last year I thought I had encountered an all-time high of people looking to buy their first gun or to get a concealed carry permit. World events and political developments have combined to make what I thought was the high water mark look like low tide. It has hit the point where gun sales breaking records is becoming a common phenomenon. In fact, in my email inbox right now there are a couple of emails from people looking to take me to lunch so they can get my input on their first firearm purchase.

Nobody knows everything (except the lyin' king) so additional knowledge is a good thing. No 2 states are exactly alike when it comes to CCW and use of your weapon. Maybe not news to FReepers, but possibly some sage adive for a newbie you may know.

That’s a great book, I wish Ayoob would write an updated edition. Much of the firearms advice is outdated, but the legal and mindset issues parts are still extremely worthwhile.

Folks, you do know that when you get a concealed carry you are now on a Fed list? Know who has or used to have the largest list of gun owners in the US is the NRA? Something to think about.

I would be offended if I weren't on the list. The founders all put their names on death warrant called the Declaration of Independence. Tell them to use big font. I don't want Valery Jarret to have to put on her spectacles to see my name!
