An interesting exercise would be “How did we invite this?”
Yes, I said we, and I said invite.
Something got substituted for the grace of God. And sometimes this something has long been endemic in “church religion.”
With little real devotion to God going on, any simulacrum to grace got taken over by what today calls itself liberals (who are quite illiberal). But they didn’t root it in God; they rooted it in the inventions of men.
And so did conservatives step in to fill the gap? Sadly no. They wanted to keep their externals looking the same as they had been, not thinking about the spiritual source of such things. Politics is the instrument of that realm too.
We do not need a political revolution. We need a private faith revolution and we might even now be on the cusp of that, if people are willing. Mankind is built (and rebuilt) from the inside out and only God can do that. Other men, of ANY kind, can only produce Frankensteinish monsters, whether the stitches are applied without or within.

the problem is that we have become so afraid of the tiny majorities roars that we don’t dare offend anyone anymore or shame them- because as soon as we do the ACLU steps in and ruins us- so people have learned to allow it to go on thinking it ‘can’t get that bad’ but here we are- in some states, where it’s now illegal for parents to take their confused kids to counseling for reparative counseling- Schools are allowed to teach ‘sex ed’ that is so disgusting filthy and immoral, so homosexual oriented- but schools are not allowed to encourage kids to pray
The best we can do these days is try to find small towns that do not put up with this crap- but these are dwindling fast

Even pagan societies usually condemned it in olden days; that is why it made a well taken biblical example of what is bad. If they did not have love to God, they had pride in offspring, so either way it came across as bad news.
If the basis of pride shifts, however, then we at best have an example set in a historical context.
This is a good occasion to think over spiritual priorities. If we had a nice heterosexual society but it never looked beyond itself, it would be as wicked in the end, and possibly more difficult to save (as it would be less obviously in need of it) than the wreck we have now.
If we but calmed down and took a deep breath and reflected, we could see the obvious misery just below the surface here. This should NOT be a difficult place to pitch a gospel. But the catch is, we have to believe a gospel ourselves. A gospel of nice, even proud society won’t do. A gospel of utter transformation of even the “best” of us, is required. A gospel that humbles us all.
