I heard Reagan also played it. (I have no clue). Regardless, these people need to listen to lyrics before they just play songs in order to convey a message. The song came out before I was born and even I know it’s meaning.

You might be overthinking it. They typically play just the hook of the song, and not the whole thing. Or even just the music sans words.
Sean Hannity plays that lame independence day song every day about some woman burning her husband to death. But he just uses the line about “letting freedom ring”.....
