Carly Fiorina Joins the Cruz Birther Bandwagon
Redstate ^ | 1/11/2016 | Leon H. Wolf

I'm convinced at this point that the Cruz "birther" non-issue should be a litmus test for whether a Presidential candidate is a serious person or not. The issue is not close on the merits, and any person of even reasonable intelligence and discernment can tell that it is a nothingburger. The only people who would actively peddle it are the misinformed, the unintelligent, or the dishonest - none of which is a good quality in a Presidential candidate.

When you throw in the fact that Trump (and now Fiorina) are trying to have their cake and eat it too by saying, "Hey, we don't know if it's a problem or not, we're just saying other people have said there's a problem and Ted should address it," then you can also add cowardly to the list. Fiorina's answer to the question on Cruz's eligibility to be President is even worse than Trump's, because in addition to being dishonest and cowardly, it is also nonsensical.

Republican presidential candidate and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina says she finds it odd it took so long for Ted Cruz to renounce his Canadian citizenship, and listed his renouncement in 2014 as one of the reasons people are so fed up with politicians.

"I just think it's odd. Why would it take you this long to renounce a Canadian citizenship?" Fiorina said last week on the Heidi Harris Show last week. "Why would it take a year before you run for president? I think it's one of the reasons that people get sort of tired of politicians."

And make no mistake, treating this like a serious issue is exactly the same as being an open birther. This hemming and hawing about "people are questioning things" is no different from the way 9/11 truthers always cabin their nutjob conspiracy theories with "well, OTHER people have questions." The Cruz birther theory is even less serious than 9/11 trutherism and respectable people shouldn't be caught treating it that way in public.

Ditto...

Well, we know that Redstate has taken a side. Pretty much excludes their commentary from serious consideration.

I must admit, it’s hilarious watching the Cruzers - who hithertofore swore up and down that they had the monopoly on caring about the Constitution - all of a sudden decide that we shouldn’t be talking about a part of the Constitution.

Is Carly on the big stage for the upcoming GOP debate on Jan. 14 in SC?
If so, she can Mr Cruz face to face in front of a national tv audience.

It sounds like "move along nothing to see here" has more quickly than expected evolved into "only whacko birds would doubt". We are already entering the ridicule stage, and the democrats have not even warmed up yet. Cruz's people are handling this so very wrongly. As Cruz dodges the issue, his supporters are forced to ridicule the hardcore Constitutional grass roots base. That doesn't help him in the long run. It hurts him, because we don't budge easily. And ridicule causes us to dig in. (And he knows that.) I hope Cruz is planning to pursue a declaratory judgment from the Supreme Court and continue his campaign "in good faith". I had predicted Cruz would be the nominee. But if his people start insulting the grass roots, that could change quickly.

Carly should have stayed out of it. She gains nothing by being on the bandwagon.

They’re at the bottom of the barrel with Cruz. He could unseat Trump and that’s why the pressure is on.

For once, anti-establishment candidates are on top and the elites are going ape!

Because of course you are the sole authority on the topic.

When your employer of hordes of illegals: busboys, maids, groundskeepers, and construction laborers, brings back those "wonderful people," "the good ones," on an "expedited" basis, "rapidly," and by the millions, all to vote Democrat in the next election... well check back with me then sirrah.

You Dupes for Donald are being used, herded like lemmings with your own fear, and so blind that you can't even hear him when Trump uses those very words.

I disagree. I think it is not self-evident what this provision of the Constitution means. I am no more impressed with a consensus of lawyers than I am with a consensus of scientists. My sense is that natural born means born to citizen parents in the United States. I think that all other bases for citizenship are creatures of Congress and in my mind that means they are not natural born. Disagree if you will but to declare me crazy or in bad faith is no different than Michael Mann and the global warmists trying to shut down those who disagree with them.

She should be careful lest Ted decide to let everybody know that the name that Carly’s been telling everybody is not, in fact, her own.

In truth, it’s just Arnold Schwarzenegger trying to pronounce ‘California’.

One dumb conspiracy deserves another.
