Pelosi leaves door open on question over Cruz's eligibility

... Nancy Pelosi wouldn't say Thursday whether she thought Cruz was a "naturally-born" citizen when asked about it...

She waved off weighing in, saying it was "inside baseball" and a constitutional issue. But she also made a point of pointing out that ...McCain -- who was born outside the U.S. mainland in the Panama Canal Zone at a military base -- was born in U.S. territory versus Cruz, who was born in Canada, saying "perhaps there is a distinction."

...Donald Trump escalated his attack against Cruz on Wednesday while the Texas senator sought to move past the hits and maintain his status as a favorite to win the Iowa caucuses.

In separate interviews with CNN, Trump and Cruz squared off over the businessman's comments -- reported Tuesday in The Washington Post -- that the senator's birth in Canada could pose a "big problem." Trump told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that Cruz, whose mother was a U.S. citizen, should go to court and ask a judge to rule that he's eligible to run for president.

"How do you run against the Democrat, whoever it may be, and you have this hanging over your head if they bring a lawsuit?" Trump said in an interview ...on "The Situation Room."

For his part, Cruz said he is certain that he never owned a Canadian passport, pushing back sharply on the idea that there is any legal controversy whatsoever./..

Experts largely agree that Cruz, who was born an American citizen thanks to his mother's nationality, is eligible to serve as president. The U.S. Constitution requires that presidents be "natural-born citizens," which Cruz is alleged to not be, as he was born in Canada. Cruz has the backing of most legal experts and U.S. case law, according to a 2011 Congressional Research Service study.

Hey Birther Donald, you Alpha sissy, how's this loser attack working out for you???? Got your hero McCain on your side and now Pelosi..

If Cruz's luck continues, he'll get the entire Congress to pass a "sense of Congress" resolution that he's ineligible--- that should be good enough for a landslide victory.

Stupid, stupid politics, Donald. First, you unnecessarily alienated conservative Christian Carson voters (which was idiotic, he was tanking by his own device); and now Cruz's supporters will never vote for you.

Hey Don, there's not enough 3rd grade liberals to get you elected....

It will not be good for Donald when they start on him in the media about McCain and Pelosi agreeing with him.

I know, I know, Trump didn’t “actually” say Cruz was not qualified, but the media will not care.

McCain was not born in the Canal Zone; he was born in a hospital outside the Zone in Panama proper. I have a map which clearly shows the location of all the relevant locations.

Further, the Canal Zone is not in the geographical territory of the several states either; the US is not sovereign there any more than it is sovereign in Canada.

That said, it sounds to me as though there are an increasing number of Dems who now know that Barry was also born in Canada. Unlike Cruz, Barry was not a citizen at birth no matter which of the two ladies was his mother.

So doubtful the dems will ultimately suck up to make this the issue.

*************

No Tex, my friend, Birther Trump said it. I know he didn’t mouth the words, and I know the Trumpkins don’t like it, but the politically challenged Birther Trump SAID IT-—

That’s why, Cruz’s first reaction was “he jumped the shark!”— Cruz couldn’t believe his luck.

Because Birther Donald did just that.

Rant all you want Vin, but Trump played this brilliantly. He’s not looking to knock out Cruz, just knock him off his game and sow some seeds of doubt in the electorate. Looks like it’s working. Santo Rafael can do whatever he wants but when Trump actually plays to win, everyone is shocked.

I think it hurts Trump and Cruz and assures at least 4 more years of a Democrat in the White House.

It hurts Trump because people don’t like his perceived bullying, and they will not come out if he continues down that same path. Hard core people like us will vote, but many will not.

It hurts Cruz because it plants just enough of a seed of doubt in the undecided voters mind.

We will vote for a Trump or a Cruz, but will we be enough?

Democrats ALWAYS bring out at least their base, can we now, after this?

I hope I am wrong.

We have to elect him to find out if he is qualified!

So which is it, are we wimps or are we too tough on each other? Your premise is poppycock, since the beginning of the American electoral system candidates have gone after each other and yes personally. The electorate expects it. One truism is the American people hate whiners and a candidate whining about how he is being picked on is a sure loser. Trump is in this to win. If you can't stomach the way you win in American politics maybe you should avert your eyes. Show me a candidate who tap dances around his opponents feelings or is afraid of offending the American people, and I'll show you a loser..aka Juan McQueeg

“That said, it sounds to me as though there are an increasing number of Dems who now know that Barry was also born in Canada”

I think that is exactly it and I think they might just have the evidence to prove it.

Unlike Cruz, Obama’s mother wasn’t old enough to transfer citizenship if he was born in Canada and his father was never a resident of the US.

It may finish them both.
The dems will say Cruz is unqualified and Trump is unseemly for bringing it up.
Again, I hope I am wrong.

I think last election McQueeg should have only two no goes, Obongo’s kids and calling him the ‘N’ word. Everything else should have been open, his closet homosexuality, his drug use, his questionable citizenship, his socialist views(Yes calling him a socialist). Sun Tzu would have won that election..”If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him.”. But I am assuming McCain wanted to win. He wanted a coronation not an election.

Wow, I guess I struck a nerve!

I did not say I couldn’t stomach it, and I will have no need to avert my eyes. I am well aware that campaigns in our nation’s history were far more brutal. Look back at some of the political cartoons from the 1800’s.

Unfortunately, we now live in a “safe-space-micro-aggressed” world, and this whole charade may turn those people off. They would most likely vote Dem anyway, but there is always a chance you may siphon a few votes for a Trump, because it would be the “cool” thing to do. Will they now?

Just throwing out there.

And, once again, I repeat, I hope I am wrong.
