The estimated jackpot for the next draw of the US Powerball Lottery has reached $500m (£342m).

No one has won the lottery's top prize since 4 November, meaning someone could lay claim to the sixth largest jackpot in North America on Wednesday night.

Soaring ticket sales have boosted the jackpot, which could climb even higher if the winning numbers remain elusive.

I’m going to buy the houses on either side of my liberal boss and fill them with Katrina refugees, boom boxes and beer.

Even if I won, I wouldn’t get paid. I live in Illinois.

Nice.

I’d want a house with a dock for a floatplane.

When I win, I’m going to buy the Kardashians and lock them in a remote subterranean cage forever. I'm not sure you could buy even one of those big ham cheeks with the proceeds of this lottery. I'm talking price per pound. Woof!

With that, I can pay off both of my houses, and keep this vehicle well maintained and full of gasoline, and liquor for many years to come.

Take the annuity which comes to about $16.7 million/year. After about 40% taxes it’s $10 million or $300 million over the life of annuity. Set up a family trust in case of untimely or early death and it still pays out full ti the trust. The only gamble is the tax rate changing.

My wife says if we win we move to California and i screamed bull$#!+. Ain’t gonna give tgat state an additional 15% in taxes. We live in Washington so no income tax but I would be very tempted to move to Texas.

I just drove 70 miles into the country on side roads and stopped at a mom and pop store to buy my tickets because that’s where the winners always come from!!!

If I win the lottery, the very first thing I would do is make absolutely certain there is no way anyone will ever know I won the lottery.

Floatplanes are nice. I’d like central air, tile floors and a screened lanai with a pool. Maybe a 20 foot boat would be good. The ocean is fairly calm there, compared to the east coast. My dogs would love it. We could spend spring, summer and fall here, and winter in Florida.
