Interesting thing is that Hezbollah sides itself with Syria, a secular regime.

Assad is an Alawite, another religious group the Sunnis want to kill.
Assad and the Alawites are tolerated by the Shiites and are supported by Shiite Iran.(and Infidel Russia)

Many say the Alawites are a sect of Shia Islam, but after reading about the Alawites I think they are as much Muslims as Mormons are Christians.
They don't quite fit the description, in my opinion.
Then throw in the Infidel Russians and Americans into the mix over there and it really gets complicated. -Tom

Interesting in how Alawite Syria is working together with Shiite Iran (and Hezbollah) as well as Infidel Russia.

I was reading, I’m no expert in the Lebanese Civil War but I read that at first, Hezbollah fought against the Syrian army, this was say, in the late ‘80s or around then. Now they are allied with the Syrian regime.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_rocket_attacks_on_Israel

The supply of missiles the Palestinians and perhaps Hezbollah too, lob at Israel, almost could not come from anywhere else but Iran and are transported through Syria. This indeed, would seem to make Syria a fairly active foe of Israel.

Crazy war, no I don’t like seeing all the bloodshed and it seems there will always be many more Sunnis but at the same time, it looks like Iran foments a lot of the trouble over there, in Yemen and so on.

Interesting in how Alawite Syria is working together with Shiite Iran (and Hezbollah) as well as Infidel Russia.

Also over there we have Sunni ISIS wanting to topple the Sunni Govt. of Saudi Arabia, and Shiite Iran wanting to do the same thing.

We also have the United States claiming to be an ally of Sunni Saudi Arabia, while at the same time paving the way for Saudi Arabia's enemy, Shiite Iran to get an atomic bomb.
And we also have to have the untrustworthy Muslim Turks to deal with. -Tom

That is still most of them wounded or dead.

1,500 + 5,000 = 6,500

A force with casualties that high would no longer exist.

Party of Allah! Just another clear example of “dead ends” following the koran.

“A force with casualties that high would no longer exist.”

What I’m saying is that the fighters seem to be more numerous than some of these estimates.

Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia, on Hizbollah’s armed strength:

“Hezbollah does not reveal its armed strength. Mustafa Alani, security director at the Dubai-based Gulf Research Centre, estimated that Hezbollah’s armed wing comprises 1,000 full-time Hezbollah members, along with a further 6,000-10,000 volunteers. According to the Iranian Fars News Agency, Hezbollah has up to 65,000 fighters. It is often described as more militarily powerful than the Lebanese Army.” (which has over 80,000 personnel)

Later in the Wikipedia article on Hizbollah, they claim:

“According to Israeli military sources, up to 2000 Hezbollah fighters were killed in Syria and 5000 wounded”

I believe that Hizbollah have taken some more casualties in Iraq as well, but Syria may have been the costliest fight that they have ever fought.
