From Oregon in the last 24 hours, a journalist working for Oregon Public Broadcasting, John Sepulvado, tweeted that Ryan Bundy had said he and the militia would leave the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge if the people in the area wanted them to.
Bundy spoke of holding a town cmeeting.
The Sepulvado tweet:
"Ryan #Bundy has told @OPB that if the People of #Burns ask them to leave, they will leave peacefully. They plan to have a community meeting."
Meanwhile, "Oregon Live" from the Portland Oregonian has a report of its own published last night including details about how law enforcement is organizing a command post at a junior high school and has taken control of a local airport both in the town of Burns.
This is 30 miles from the wildlife refuge.

"Police had deliberately kept a low profile once the occupiers took over the refuge headquarters. No patrol cars or officers have been spotted in the 30 miles between Burns and the refuge.
But a gathering of law enforcement forces became evident Monday.
The junior high school in downtown Burns remained closed to the public, with law enforcement workers replacing the students and teachers who were previously scheduled to fill its halls for the first day back from the winter break.
Instead, school is cancelled for the week and the building has become a makeshift police command post. All local government offices were also closed.
Roads within a block of the building were cordoned off while an officer guarded the school's front doors. Men emerged from vehicles outside, carrying large metal boxes. One box was labeled 'laptops.'
At the Burns Municipal Airport, an unmarked SUV blocked one large entrance while a state trooper stood guard in his car at the other. A large military type vehicle blocked a third entrance."

This is so typical. Whenever the politicians decide to make cuts in government they go for things like libraries and parks rather than firing sexual harassment counselors and other various useless administrators.

Isnt that the problem? They did try to work thru this and got shot down by govt officials..for decades. Certainly the press isnt going to give them anything favorable or even try to investigate and produce an unbiased report. Whats left? Either knuckle under or fight. More and more the effort to use elections is failing. Our federal and many state govts are morphing into entities not presribed by the founders.

The best tactic of the LEO’s would be to ignore the situation.
Public sentiment will, in all likelihood, cause the Bundys to stand down.

I haven’t figured out WHICH LEO’s are involved, but I suspect they are gummint agents in local costumes specially trained for this type of warfare.
