LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) - As the price of marijuana continues to drop, Washington pot businesses are struggling to keep up with the changes.

The Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1O6nqKx ) that since legal marijuana entered the market in July 2014, prices have dropped from $25 to $30 per gram to about $10 a gram now.

Equal to street prices lol

The stoner press disagrees: "the prices are still more than twice as high as they are on the black market." - http://www.theweedblog.com/recreational-marijuana-prices-plunge-in-washington-state/

“Back in the day” an ounce (lid) was around $10 in say 1971.

A gram at $10 would yield $280 per ounce, today.

I expect the statute of limitations is up, so I confess to growing some of my own during 1971-197x until it held no appeal.

I did so mostly to avoid associating in anyway with others who were dealing in the stuff, or legal exposure.

But it was also economic. It was surprisingly easy to grow in sufficient quantity for my limited appetite.

Should I ever be advised to use it for medicinal reasons, I might again attempt growing it.

As of today I have no interest in mind altering substances, and will reach 22 years sober from alcohol next month. Other substances were long since out of my lifestyle long, long before quitting the drink drug.

What does that even mean - what role do cartels allegedly play in the legal MJ market?

One of the biggest selling points of legalization was that it would greatly curtail criminal MJ activity. I certainly believe the criminals have gotten involved with legal pot. YMMV.

Now in my opinion, if the major selling point was to curtail criminals, they should have legalized it without taxes and excessive regulation.

What is the nature of the "involvement" in which you believe?

They are selling it too. What’s with the 3rd degree. If you disagree, that’s OK.

They are selling it too.

So cartels have applied for and been awarded the necessary licenses and approvals to legally sell pot and are operating out of storefronts? Color me skeptical

This is the per-gram price for per-gram sales which I believe to be accurate.

Shops also sell by the oz., at a much lower imputed price per gram. Washington limits to one ounce in possession.

I have never purchased in any size or from any source but intend to do so at least once (61 year old experimenting with drugs).

Cruz says it's a matter for the individual states.

Kasich and Christie are the ones you're looking for, then. Trump and Cruz both support the Tenth Amendment.

Trump => As far as legalizing pot in general, he said, "I really believe we should leave it up to the states."

Cruz => If the citizens of Colorado decide they want to go down that road, that's their prerogative. I personally don't agree with it, but that's their right."

--Ted Cruz CPAC February 26 2015

So which do you side with - Trump, Cruz and the Tenth Amendment; or Kasich, Christie and fedgov?

They got hit also because they couldn’t take ordinary business deductions on their federal income tax.

Proof once again that liberals do not understand economics

$25 - $39 a gram? I remember the daze when the good stuff (they tell me it was crap compared to the stuff today - I have no idea) was $35 - $40 an ounce (34 grams for those who “never inhaled”).

Thanks for posting! "Taint corn. It's dope." Lolol

That was one of those things you could say to me at any time, in any situation and I would laugh. And I couldn't help it or stop myself. Small mind, I guess...oh well, some things never change.

I don't know if this makes any sense, but after reading about Donald Fagen's troubles tonight, your Bloom County post got my mind right again. Thanks!
